So I noticed something interesting. The last two times I’ve had the targa off (today and yesterday) when I went to put it back into the roof position it didn’t go in easily. After placing the rear pins in their slots I had to use a fair amount of force to bring the front pins down. I took the targa off on my C7s all the time and never noticed anything like that. And up until the last two days I didn’t notice anything different in my C8 either. Any chance that storing it in the trunk could lead to some warping because of the heat generated back there? Anyone notice something similar?

Check the rubber grommet where the rear pins go. Some people have had those come loose or fall out, maybe yours is binding a little or not properly seated. I always set the top with the two pins at the rear first, then lay it down and the slide it back as much as I can to make sure it is fully seated on those two pins before turning the locks in the front.
I've found the the C8 targa top is a tighter fit than the C7 top was.
With the frame around the top, I don't see how it could "warp". I've had mine stored in the trunk for most of the past 6 weeks including several 4 hour road trips. Still fits the same as the day I got it.
Its a tight fit for sure. I take my top off alot and putting it back on is tight for sure. My back grommets come out of the car on occasion....I might look at putting graphite or some dry lubricant on the back posts of the top.
Enjoy that it is not loose or leaking.

No, as suggested, it's not top warpage. Do a close inspection of all the contact points especially the pins and "sockets." Something will be amiss there if the fit has changed. All the best.
