What vendor sells XL splash guards in the textured black like the OEM rocker side skirts. Have seen them in carbon flash but want textured to match the splitter and side skirts. Should I just go with the GM ones or do they not provide enough coverage like the XL do? tks

Just an fyi,
The sq in of the splash guard is equal to the amount on panel it will protect.
Unless they're huge, they don't really do much. jmho
Help me understand your math. If they stuck out 8" wide and were 24" tall, it would protect 1.5 sq ft? That giant flap would protect 10% of just the door?
That is correct. Living in Connecticut during the height of the muscle car era 1968-1974, You could actually measure the area of protection when you drove through sleet, snow, etc.
Also you would get multiple chips on the lower fender, door, and quarter panel beyond the "protected" area.
I had a Trans Am Super Duty that I put HUGE SPLASH guards on for protection.
They protected but looked out of place so I removed them and just sprayed 3M body schutz (textured rubberized coating)on the areas and painted to match.
That wouldn't look good on fiberglass. jmho
OP have you seen the XL's on a car. You need to see them in person, pictures just don't do it. I think the XL's are a distraction.
I have not. I would go with GM OEM one's but seems the consensus is they don't cover much. I plan to keep the stock wheels so maybe the OEM's are fine as I suppose many that go aftermarket go with more offset to bring the wheels further out.

I agree with your assessment! The GM splash guards are perfect for the GM OEM wheel offsets. I have the HRE FF11 wheels on my C8 and the larger aftermarket splash guards are required to cover the larger offsets on these wheels, especially the rear wheels.

‘Thanks for the timely post as I have a set of HRE FF11 on order and will go with the wider splash guards
