I went to drop off my Tahoe for an oil change at the local dealer (Ron Westphal in Oswego, IL), and there are 3 C8's in there ALL with transmission issues.
Service employee told me they were waiting for parts on one and 2 brand new transmissions for the others.
My 2022 is due to be delivered in Spring, is this a widespread issue or did I walk into a rare situation?
Depends on the issues each is having. But the trans and most other things in this car have been pretty reliable overall. Don't worry about an issue until you have one is my advice. Reading this board sometimes you'd think your car will fall apart the minute you pick it.
Mine is a 2020 that I took delivery in November of last year. I took her in for the free first year service of oil change and DCT filter change. That's when they discovered my transmission was leaking. I thought it was just a gasket or something simple, but the service manager told me all transmissions were to be replaced. Until then, there were no problems with the transmission that I was aware of.

There are a lot of threads about it. Transmission issues range from leaking casings, to debris damaging internal components. The DCT issue threads seemed to have peaked back in summer of 2021.
Three cars in one lot waiting for the same part. Sad.
The fridge I grew up with is still running problem free from the late '40s.
^$^$^%@ technology makes these things a nightmare sometimes.
My dealer had 30 or so allocations and the service manager told me that my C8 is the ninth one that needed a new transmission. Those are pretty bad odds...
I was recently at my dealer to have my first service (oil, oil filter and DCT filter). There were zero C8’s there with DCT issues. So no, not all dealers have C8’s sitting in the back lot waiting for new DCT’s.
I just asked my dealer that had 33 allocations for 2020, not sure how many 2021 cars, and to date, they have replaced zero DCTs. They had a couple with failed valve springs though.
I would not worry too much about it. I look at it as even if I knew there is a chance of developing transmission problems, the car is so much fun to drive I would go ahead with the purchase anyway. I have a feeling you are in the same boat. If that's the case, I would just drive it and enjoy it.... At least that is what i have been doing. I am over 5,000 miles right now on my 2021 with mostly back road spirited driving including the use of paddle shifters a lot and I have not had any problems with the transmission (or anything else on the car for that matter).

Look at that beauty! haha...that's pretty damn "cool"!
It's common enough that GM seems to have 0 Spare transmissions apparently and no ETA on when they can replace. Guess they just need to keep making more broken c8s that they can't fix because that's more profitable. Getting more and more pissed about mine sitting in the dealer parking lot, leaking away.
This is what has me worried about keeping my C8 long term or even doing a simple exhaust mod. I've only had mine 3 months and 1k miles so far. It's been great so far but it's always in the back of my head that the tranny may have an issue. Like someone else mentioned, he had no issues at all until he took it in for thr tranny filter change. For all I know mine is leaking and I won't find out until next year when I take it in.
To the OP, I'd say the tranny issues aren't widespread enough to say every Vette will have an issue, but it's common enough to be a concern for owners. Especially if you plan to keep out of warranty or do any mods

To be fair that fridge only has like one moving part.

100%, I’m all in just found it odd that 3/3 Vettes there had transmission issues.
