Default Side scoop extensions

Now that the "big nasty" has been seen, I can't help but think they really cleaned up the scoop profile compared to the Stingray. The backwards boomeranged always kind of bothered me on my car.

Here he points out a good sxs comparison of what I'm talking about.
so I did a couple of crude sketches on my phone over a couple pics of my car.

So why hasn't aliExpress fabbed up an extension for the side scoop yet? It should be easy enough to make a direct replacement for the piece on the fender without changing the door trim at all.

Both are still hokey and only acceptable if painted body-color.

The introduction of the C8 Z06 should really create a sales boom for the Corvette Aftermarket Parts companies trying to turn all Stingrays into Z06 look-a-likes.

The Z06’s is larger and integrated into a much larger fender. How do you figure that’s a bolt in replacement?

The Z06 has more body for sure, but the carbon flash boomerang trim on the Stingray is removable and can be replaced with a larger forward sloping one.
It would obviously be an add on as opposed to the body integrated wide body, but it would still improve the profile.

Here's a removal vid for the boomerang on the fender.
It should be as easy as removing one and replacing with a larger one.

Sure it’s removable, but you’re trying to replace a boomerang with a shark’s tooth. The two shapes aren’t interchangeable.

Barring some actual bodywork to the panels to accommodate a true Z06 shaped intake outline, I think your best choice would just be a vinyl that buds right up against it. Simple, inexpensive, easy to change. Go get that eyeliner wing.

Probably won't be too long before the aftermarket gets rolling on the newest model look alike parts. Seems like it happens with every generation.

I ordered body-colored boomerangs on my AW coupe because I just don't care for how the black ones break up the design flow. That said, I think the ones on the Z06 look good.

OP: Thanks for posting.

I think the gentleman doing the sketch nailed it on furthering some key design improvements on the C8. I also agree with him on his assessment that the Corvette design team did make positive improvements and and solved some issue I too had with the C8 stingray design.

I like seeing the evolution.

Here's an old rendering of the scoop before the official release. It is a tidier look than what we have.
