My C8 has open grill plates on either side of the engine compartment window. What happens to rain water? There don't seem to be any catch pans under the grills.
I live in Western Washington State. I park the car outside. It's been raining for the past 10 days until today. Unplugged the charger, hit the button and away I went.
By the way, finding a route for the cord to the charger wasn't as hard as I had believed. There's a spot right beside the driver's side wiper to go under the frunk lid. There's also a spot in the corner of the hood on the passenger side.I routed the cord all the way to the front then back up into the well, lest water track down the cord and into the well.I wrapped the cord in a goat skin chamois where it contacts the body. It turns out that those plastic covers over the battery etc are to route the water from the windscreen down into the two ~1" holes near the front and out the vent(s) below.
This question keeps coming up, but only for the C8 Coupe. Doesn’t seems to get asked for the C8 HTC, even though it also has vents…
Nor has it come up during the six year run of the C7 (at least not that I recall), despite there also being a vent above the C7 engine.
So why does this question keep coming up regarding the C8 Coupe? The only thing I can think of is that the C8 Coupe’s engine is immediately visible because it’s under glass, and with the other examples I gave, you don’t see the water, except if you lift the C7 hood, or the C8 HTC hatch. 🤔

It may be because you can SEE the spots it's left behind beside the engine. A small part of the reason some people bought the car, or enjoy the car is because you can see the engine under glass. They've even bought the dress up engine cover and carbon fiber flashing for around the engine. Then water gets in and makes spots. It's hard to reach without leaning on the car to get it to be spotless again.
I've never detailed the engine bay of any car I've owned. Some take the time to clean up every bit of dirt so that they can see fluid leaks, etc. IF they occur. For those who are detail oriented this water entry thing IS a concern.

Yep, soon after folks get their C8 those comments get posted. None Issue!
Just finished washing mine. Use a hose with soapy water dispenser and lots of water to rinse. Just like I washed my prior 5 Vettes. When finished drying the car, pop the hatch and yep a little water. Actually very little. Use a towel to first wipe up what is there and it's hardly damp. Helps when I go over the engine, black composite areas to remove dust! Enough of the towel is still bone dry to finish!
Only issue, having nothing to do with water, is the inside of the hatch glass! If you're OCD must drive you crazy! I'm not and my extended window washer handle and triangular pad is good enough for me! As I only use the TV Mirror I never see dirt on the interior or hatch glass!
What some folks can't handle is that they can see water spots left over from rainwater through the back glass everytime they walk by.
C7 also had significant water intrusion into the engine compartment through the hood vent on all models. The difference is the hood was usually down, and engine compartment was unseen most of the time. However, the "engine compartment detailers" have about the same amount of work on a C7 after every car wash.

Have used that for the wheels after I wash the car but there is so little water in the engine compartment NOT useful.
If fact as I have stated there is little water that is there after washing, using a hose to rinse as I did my prior 5 Vettes. I use a towel to pick it up what little is there. It is then slightly damp and use it to clean the dust on the engine cover and other flat areas! It's a non issue!
I have a HTC and have to open the door sills, trunk, frunk and engine exterior hatch(s) and wipe up the water after each wash. Not much different than the coupe owners. That's me, you don't need to do this, but I am a little OCD on what my car looks like, so it just become routine. It takes ~ 10 mins to do, no big deal.
I do like the idea of using a leaf blower on these areas and will give it a try. I've tried the blower on the exterior and not happy with how it works. I even borrowed my sons "Master Blaster" and still not impressed with how it dried the exterior with it. I more happy with the use of 3 microfiber rags to dry the outside surfaces. A 4th rag for the hatch areas and the wheels.
When I drive in the rain, I don't wipe up these areas right after the rain, I wait until the next wash cycle to get these areas clean and dry.
My C7 engine bay would get water in it from a wash / rain too, so each wash cycle I cleaned the engine bay and dried it. No Biggie.

I'm NOT OCD and find the large microfiber drying towel does the car and I finish with door sills. Always drive the car a few blocks using brakes aggressively before finishing to heat the Z51 rotors or they will get a surface rust. After I pull back in I use a separate towel for engine compartment. Will use it for the wheels for what water is left after the short drive, which is when I put on tire dressing. My goal is finishing as quickly as possible!
