RHD Personal Purchasing Experience
After reading several threads on this forum about RHD, their excellent customer service, and their amazingly fast turnaround time in delivering c8s I pulled the trigger and put my deposit down with Chris on April 21st.... fast forward to September 26 and BOOM my car arrived ahead of schedule. Up until that point Chris was simply amazing to deal with, he was crystal clear about everything, including updates, build suggestions, delivery options and was always willing to go above and beyond to help answer any question I had, and that was very comforting for me as I had been travelling overseas during that process.
Now everything is perfect and great so far, however as everyone heard Chris was leaving almost at the same time my car got delivered so I was referred to some other team members to finish the process. I'm not sure how to begin but let us just say that my experience went from 101% satisfaction to 1% satisfaction. Starting with the finance guy that was fine for a starter as he was getting me different bank offers for a loan, but once I told him I will pay cash it felt like he flipped on me, he started answering emails once a week at most, would not provide details to the repeated questions I kept asking regarding the fees that were added in addition to the Dealer fee that Chris had already told me about since the beginning, and would not even bother to remove the deposit fee from the total price even though I mentioned it several times. Eventually after about 6 different emails begging him to explain some of the fees he replies to my email with a screen shot of a tax document from my state indicating a fee and writes one sentence in caps lock saying "THIS TOTALS OUT TO BE $XXX WHICH IS WHAT WE COLLECT IN THIS TRANSACTION FOR YOU. THEN YOU HAVE REGISTRATION FEES"...indicating he was extremely bothered and annoyed by me, or at least that is how it felt. I have never felt like **** for trying to figure out the details of what I'm paying for before that point. So 6 emails later inquiring about the extra fees, now he has responded to one of the fees only, ok so I'm assuming I have to send another 6 emails for him to respond to the other fees? Really?
I tried to talk to their manager and explained that I was travelling overseas and their finance guy is doing a bad job at communicating with me and answering anything clearly and it was giving me anxiety. I explained to them over a hundred times I need the tags to be ready when I pick the car up and I paid for them as well. I had already mentioned to Chris that I would be arriving 3-4 weeks after my car got delivered and he assured me that would be ok and my car will be ready when I'm back. So I mentioned since the beginning to them to expedite my DMV paperwork and I would pay any extra fees so that I can at least have my tags when I arrive and those 3-4 weeks would not go to waste.
During these past 2 weeks since I returned to the US, I have been working my butt off in trying to have them give me any sort of detail regarding my DMV application, they keep dancing around my questions and do not provide a proper answer. Every time I ask them please update me about the DMV as I need to make travel arrangements to pick up my car, they answer with a different request. First, they mentioned sorry they have to have a wet signature to apply for tags, ok no problem mail the papers..done. Then, sorry you have to provide us with an insurance card so we can start your DMV application for tags.. I did not understand that but ok no problem, done. After my 100th time asking them to at least tell me where will my tags arrive? My residence? Your dealership? They respond with "sorry no idea". Moreover, after continuously assuring me on many different occasions that my application had been submitted a while ago, I get an email yesterday saying " hey you need to pay tax before we submit your application to the DMV" .... Like really? Is this a joke?
I could have done this all myself in quarter that timeframe and I even mentioned it to them several times since the very beginning, I clearly told them if you cant and do not know how to do this please refund the DMV fees I paid and I will take care of it myself, and they kept saying the application has already been submitted. So now, I will have to make travel arrangements to fly back to my state as I'm on the other side of the country visiting my mother, go to DMV try to get tags then fly out to Duluth and get my car. Honestly, I even asked how to get to their dealership as I have never been to Georgia and I was told to "Uber it".
I just want to get my car and be over with this nightmare, even though I won't be able to apply for a carnet in time as I had plans to take my C8 to Europe for few weeks ( which I also told them about in hopes that they would expedite the process a little) . My opinion is that this dealership was held up by Chris only, does this mean everyone will be treated like me, nope.. maybe I'm just an outlier who knows.. But in all honesty.. I would give them a negative star rating if I could.
Now, on the bright side, this experience could have been much worse.... after all I did get a c8 for msrp and for that I'm grateful, so as mentioned previously, I will pick up my car sometime next week hopefully and try to put all of this behind my back.

Chris ended up sending me a check for $300 to cover the fine after the fact.
I'm afraid to say I'm going elsewhere for my next vette but working with Chris was the best.
I've always had bad luck with Finance Managers, they are the worst. I had one call me dumb because I didn't wan an extended warranty. If it wasn't such a great deal on the car at the time I would have walked out.

Lol, Rick Hendrick Duluth sir.
- Correct RHD means Right Hand Drive.
- This thread is in reference to Rick Hendrick Duluth GA, which on the closed thread was abbreviated as RHD.
And I concur, Chris held the corvette department together at this dealership. After his departure and with the new ADM policy...time will only tell. Chris personally took care of a lot of tag/title paperwork by calling the team members that are located in another building. I am sure anyone local or did the paperwork in person like me, perhaps didn't have any of these issues.

Maybe don't finance car at place you buy it, finance managers get paid on what they sell, usually not a pleasant experience.
If I need good BBQ, I fire up my BigGreen Egg...low and slow.

It's a 600mi drive back so I figure flying in and driving back same-day would be hell so at least staying one night. Maybe make a long weekend of it and spend some time in ATL and/or hit the scenic route on the way back.
