My Corvette C8 arrived at the dealership but the high wing spoiler is being delayed as a result of supply chain issues. Does anyone know if it would be any problem of waiting a week or two to get the ceramic coating on the car until I get the spoiler or should it be done immediately when it has been delivered to the dealership? In other words is there any time factor with the ceramic coating as to timing? Thank you for your feedback.
It will not be a problem to wait but you could easily get it done immediately and just do the spoiler later. It will take no time at all. I did one of my cars about 6 months after owning it.
The only issue is damage over time by being in the world. Washed, dried, light hazy scratches, etc. ceramic coating is 95% preparation, because once it's coated, you're not going to buff any imperfections out.
I picked my C8 up on 9/14/21 and have driven it about 1100 miles. I will be taking it to the shop I use for ceramic coatings soon - just haven't decided when. I live in a rural area so I'm not too worried about damage and swirls, etc..... If it gets them when I take it for a hand wash the shop will get them out in the prep stage.
Doubt it will matter how soon as long as the detailer does a full paint correction. I am picking my 2022 Artic White HTC up from Criswell next week, 11/11, and have an appointment set with my detail shop in Orlando for 12/13. I am driving it back to Central Florida so most likely have close to 1500 miles on it when they get it into their shop. They have done Ceramic and full paint correction on my last two vehicles and both were driven a couple 100o miles before they got them into their shop.
My 2 cents anyway
Although wing is installed using bolts, they often use two sided tape at the mounting points too. If you ceramic coat first, that tape will not stick well. I think I'd ask the installer to not coat the rear bumper cover until the wing has not been installed.
