So, picked up my car last Friday and put 190 miles on it so far. There is a valve train ticking (even when warmed-up) that doesn't sound right to me, like maybe a soft lifter. Am I correct that this is unusual, or is it just the rear glass passing the sound that would normally be absorbed by a hood? TIA
yea, normal, and it does bug me for sure. One reason I am looking to get a Borla Atak exhaust system to hopefully help drown out the Singer behind my head. Engine sounds awesome when you get on it, in every gear. but at cruising speed it is pretty boring....

just turn up your radio. Not sure exhaust drone is a better solution,
This is actually what I like LEAST about this car, which I LOVE in general. It’s just not a sound that is fitting with the rest of the look and feel of the car.
Very high pressure fuel injectors for the direct injection system.
Normal fuel injectors operate at 40 PSI, direct injection injectors operate at 3000 PSI!
Yeah, I always hear the "ticking" sound behind me, and it is 100% sync'd to RPM / throttle position.
It sometimes sounds like an old singer sewing machine to me! (we had one of these in our house, if you messed around with it, it would smash the hell out of your fingers)
If this ticking is more pronounced at 1800 rpms and then gradually fades away as the engine spins faster, then yes, unfortunately, it's normal. It's less pronounced in an HTC due to the additional panels. In a coupe, then only thing separating you from the engine is that rear glass window. So the engine sound is louder and not necessarily nicer.
Is this supposed to be muted with the special Z06 exhaust?
Apparently GM doesn’t feel like they need to mute these things at all, but it’s possible the Z06 exhaust drone will drown it out, but the FPC also runs at a higher rpm which probably will make the noise disappear anyway.
