I just ordered a set of 4 grill guards from RPI (yeah cheezy zip ties). Has anyone installed them themselves? If so how long did it take and how hard was it??

I install my 4 grill guards in an hour and a half. If car was on a lift I could have finished in a half hour. On the ground I could not use my drill to remove over 20 screws. Also 76 year old hands had trouble with wire ties. The wire ties cannot be seen unless you are really looking for them.
Ordered the metal grill material from Amazon. Size was 13x46 I think. You can choose the size and style of mesh. Made template from cardboard. Just need one template for both sides…just flip it for opposite side. Tip cut grills 3/4 inch bigger than template, test fit and adjust as needed. Cut with metal sheers. Total cost $30 including the sheers if you don’t have. Total time 1/2 hour to make and install. Just remove the splitter and bottom plastic shields. Easy. To make template: Cut a rough pattern. Hold behind grill where the actual grill guards will go. Trace best you can with sharpie. Easier if you have someone else hold the template in place but if you’re flexible can do alone. Cut out template, transfer to grill material. I used blue painter tape to transfer the pattern to grill since pencil and sharpie won’t be seen easily. Again, cut grill 3/4 larger than template for your first test fit.

Looked to see Just What RPI grill guards were BUT could not find. However since you said they use Zip Ties what I (and others) did with Custom Grill Guards is installed without the plastic ties showing. I show both ways. Removing the grill bars to have plastic ties not visible takes longer, your choice.
I got these black aluminum two front pieces on Ebay for $30.00 I believe. Installed them in about 45 mins on the lift. I didn't take all of the front panel bolts off just enough to hold down on the panel and slip the screens up in there. Centered them and zip tied and done. So far so good.
