Default Front Splitter

How much in front height is lost with the front splitter installed. I’m not sure if I want to add the optional front lift or not.

I didn’t get it and have never needed it (to date) but in retrospect I wish I would have gone ahead and ordered it along with the carbon fiber interior pieces. Probably just because I can’t add them now!

It's not just the height that matters. It also protrudes out further forward. Both of these differences alter the approach angle (how steep of an elevation change you can safely navigate).

Approach angles:
Base / no E60 11.8 degrees
Base with E60 14.2 degrees
Z51 / no E60 = 9.8 degrees
Z51 with E60 = 11.1 degrees

The C7 was 9 degrees.

My car is a non Z51 with memory lift. I installed a Z-51 front splitter after the fact. I never physically measured the clearance before and after, but I could make it over my curb without the lift before I installed the splitter - not so afterwards. I was determined to lower my car before I got it so I purchased a Paragon Performance complete lowering kit for non Z-51 cars. It consist of 3/4” lowering collars for the front shocks, new adjustable shocks for the rear and new springs for all 4 corners. Now, I can’t use the kit unless I lower the curb at the base of my drive (not an easy task) or get one of the Bridjit driveway ramps. Right now, I’m in a holding pattern 😕

FWIW, My 5VM copy sticks out ~2 1/2" further than the car without a splitter. It is ~6 inches from the ground.

My lift clears everything i encounter. BTW, your own driveway may not be the issue. Mine wasn't in my C6 Z51, C7 Z51 that I added a splitter or my 2017 Grand Sport that had the GM carbon fiber Stage 2 Aero splitter. Scraped all 3! Although my C6 Z51 air dam scraped that is a non issue! It's when the aluminum skid pad hit in a dip before going into a Mall that made a terrible sound. Scraped the C7's when I went into FedEx as it's off a 4 lane ~55 mph traffic and several times could NOT stop and craw in as being rear ended was a worse option! Have those places memorized so I can pull in at 20 mph and not worry about hitting.

Here are some pics: C6 Z51 center air dam scraped leaving driveway not no big deal. But next lowest thing is the "Skid Pad" or radiator support. When that aluminum frame scrapes make air dam scraping sound like music. It scraped on a dip because went into a mall entrance too fast to avoid being hit by a car coming too fast! Added aftermarket plastic FANGS to C6 and C7!

Same with my 2014 Z41 aftermarket splitter. Did not scrape in driveway but at FedEx entrance off of a ~50 mph 4 lane highway- again going in too fast to avoid folks behind hitting me!

With past experience added a Scrape Armor ~$500 splitter protector. That goodness as leaving a driveway in town scraped but saved the carbon fiber splitter. It can only help perhaps a 3/8" excess height. It's available for the C8 BUT the 1 1/2" Lift is far better!

I measured mine. 6 1/8 inch, front lift lowered. I have the splitter that comes with the rear low spoiler. The picture is a little angled, but when I measured the tape measure was straight. I would get the front lift. I use it many times.

OP, are you adding a factory Z51 spoiler to a non Z51 car?

Hopefully these photos will help.

The Blue measurements are comparisons of the Z51 Front Splitter to the OEM Bumper without it.
