Default Trickle Charger Question....

What am I missing? -

No issues with battery to date. Better safe than sorry, so I decided for the first time to use the trickle charger ordered with my C8.

Plugged into socket in frunk, plugged cord to wall. Steady power light illuminated followed by illumination of third battery image from the left.

Checking hours later the steady power lamp was flashing and zero battery images illuminated. Pushed reset. No battery images illuminated, but now steady power lamp.

Checking this am...flashing again without battery image illuminated. Repeating now.

C8 fires right up and voltage showing 14.2 V.

Again....what am I missing?

I would check the plug on the CTEK that goes into the socket. Mine had a spring that was too strong on the center pin and it would push itself back out of the socket. I took it apart and cut one coil off the spring and it's been perfect ever since.

Phil...sounded good, but even when I press it in, hold and wait the battery level lights don't illuminate.

I would guess once fully charged or while working its way to fully charged those level lights should be working.

Anyone with the same? Verify if level illumination lights work....or when fully charged, level lights shut off?

Light should stay on indicating a full charge as long as it stays plugged in. All lights are off only when the unit is not powered. Either your 12v male plug or the unit is defective If you have the alligator clips, you can test the unit by hooking up to the battery. You can also test it on another vehicle.

I suppose it's also possible that the charge port in your frunk may be defective, but you can test that if you have another 12v powered device to test it with.

A flashing green power light indicates a faulty connection or unit. No light indicates no power.

Foosh - Yep, I was leaning heavily to your diagnosis! Will need to check the charge point with another charger also or try on another vehicle.

Although not recommended to be used as a trickle charger port, but would it be safe just to try to plug it into the passenger side port so I can eliminate the possible issue of it being a frunk port issue?

Yes, you can safely do that.
