Has anyone heard anything about production being slowed this month because of chip restraints? They’ve said all along chip shortages were never an issue on the C8’s. I’m trying to find out if this shortage is the truth or just another excuse for the dealership I’m working with to continue to put others in front of me.
While on the subject, I would like to get some opinions. I’m 100% sure I’ve been pushed back a minimum of 20 spots at a dealership that was getting 4-5 allocations a month. When the dealership switched the orders from 2021s to 2022’s they send me a copy of the wrong order, the only way I can see this happening is he was one line off. I still have the order he sent me with the customers name and number. I’m really tempted to call him and see if he’s gotten allocation actually he probably already got his car. On the one hand I really don’t want to drag someone else into it, on the other hand if I confirm they’ve been screwing me I either get the next allocation or I’m walking away after 14 months on a matter of principle. Being a fellow Corvette buyer would you be sympathetic if you got a call from someone like me or would it **** you off? I know it’s not going to reflect well on the dealership sending out his personal information. My other thought was to call him anonymously and try to get the information that doesn’t feel right though, kind of deceptive. I would appreciate any input, possibly another way to get the information…
Many industries are facing chip shortages. We are updating our Cisco firewalls and the wait is many months to get them shipped.
I’m definitely aware of the chip shortages, also invested in some chip manufacturers. GM has said all along that chip shortages aren’t an issue with the C8 and that seems to be the case. No one else seems to have heard anything about a chip shortage when it comes to the C8. Pretty sure my dealership is just setting me up to not give me allocation for at least a couple months.
Have you called one of the big dealers, like Kerbeck? I went through the exact same issue with three dealers when I bought a new C6, back in '06. It was frustrating as hell and showed our local dealers true colors (liars and bullshitters). I canceled my local order, got my deposit back and ordered from Kerbeck. 3 weeks later, my car was delivered to Park City, UT. It was like ordering a pizza.
