2022 with Z51. I was testing the mode ****/dash displays Next thing I know the **** disappeared. The **** dropped down into the console. I tried to push down on it to see if it would pop up. Nothing. Any ideas?
Thanks
It was hard to find in the service manual, because they are not consistent about the name, but I think this is it. In there, its called a ride controls switch. It says its held in by three tabs. Evidently something happened with those tabs or it was never fully in place. I could be that it just needs to be pushed in place properly. Or, slim chance, it maybe could be, or could have been pulled firmly in place. It says, below that the "preliminary" procedure is "front floor console trim replacement".
Was like this. Went out to take photo and had the bright idea to push down to see if it would pop up Decided to fall into console. I guess it is going to go to the dealer.

Wow.... that's a new one. I've never heard of a mode selector just falling into the console on ANY car with one of them. Craziness! Good luck with the repair OP.
I agree with Foosh, looks like you are missing (in the first pic.) the top of the dial that you turn to change the modes. Second pic things get worse. Looks like a trip to the dealer, lets hope the part/s you need are listed as available.
It appears to me that it wasn't ever in the correct position. The first picture isn't where it's supposed to be, let alone the 2nd picture where is fell through the opening. Mine sits almost at the top of the pad above it. At least it feels like that.
It's probably still functional if you could reach in and turn the dial. There must be mounting hardware that is either missing, and/or was never firmly affixed, and became dislodged.
Appears to be a very simple fix. I wouldn't stress.
Dunno about simple. They may have to take the entire front half of the center console off to do the repair. I just hope OPs car doesn't develope any new squeaks, creaks, or rattles after the repair.

That's not difficult for any semi-competent service department and many DIYers. They clip in like most other interior trim pieces, and unless fasteners are broken, no more likely to rattle.
