My understanding is the stock clutch setup in the TR9080 handles a max of ~600ft lb of torque. So there isn't a lot of margin available.
Emelia Hartford found out real fast with her TT setup and burned up the clutches, so she had some Dodson clutches installed, along with a texas speed engine.
I believe they claim the Dodson could go much higher, but the issue is the DCT detects the extra torque and shuts itself down to protect the transmission.
The fuel tech guys in Orlando seem to have developed a piggy back system that knows how to apply power in a way that fools the ECU/TCM a little. (maybe they reduce throttle position some before a shift occurs?)
So, in my opinion you have a couple options:
1) Get on the Z06 list, flip the C8 and get a boost in performance with a factory setup, although the Z06 #'s in reality aren't well known yet. The 0-60 published numbers aren't massively better. 1/10 of a second faster?
2) Spend a lot of money with power adders with the C8, and risk various failures and probably no factory warranty to bail you out.
3) Spend less money with bolt on modifications like the pTR intake, throttle body, exhaust (I think NPP is fine), that will add a marginal amount of power for a marginal amount of cost, and maybe keep your factory warranty.... maybe.
While I may not have been as specific, I share the same opinion as @dohabandit OP. While I may not know as much as he does, I do know to pay attention to what he says lol

i have basically decided to do a Dodson clutch if and when I do FI…
Sign up for an HPDE event, and drive your car on a proper race track, and see if you really need more HP... my uneducated guess is you will not be able to drive the car at 60% of its capability... then make your decision...

Going fast in a straight line is a bit different than at a HPDE event. Most people that own corvettes or similar likely can’t get full potential out of a civic SI on track. Does that matter? I suppose if you plan on tracking it it does, but if you’re just looking for more power when passing or accelerating on the street it’s moot.
So I met with the owner of a Corvette Connection here in Denver. They do all years of Vettes, everything from milder street build to full NHRA drag cars with chutes and the whole bit…
They have 3 C8s waiting in the shop right now. 2 waiting for the Procharger kit, and one for the ETS twin turbo kit. Neither of the Procharger cars are currently slated to get a clutch upgrade and Rich who owns the place apparently knows the folks that run Procharger/ATI pretty well. Apparently Procharger is not saying a clutch upgrade is required with the base HO kit…
for the ETS twin turbo car, they are doing a Dodson clutch….
Looks like about $15-16k to buy and have the Procharger installed, and about $4500 parts and labor for the Dodson clutch… I am going to kept in touch with them and see how the first 2 installs go with the Procharger, and if all it good I will probably make the leap then…
@ErieC8R Just curious how the progress on the 3 performance upgrades you mentioned went (if they went forward). As you probably know, and cited on the Forum in a more recent post, Callaway announced a Supercharger option for the C8 that will be available first Qtr. 2023. They're working with GM and will have direct access to the ECU. No disclosure, yet, of other options/upgrades that might also be available. The performance option will be available for a new C8 ordered through a Callaway Chevrolet partner dealership, OR through their "2nd Chance" program for upgrades to previously purchased C8s. No specs on HP, TQ, etc. or pricing yet. Drivetrain warranty will be matched to GM warranty and available by Callaway's GM partner dealerships. I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing how this effort progresses.
Not a 300 mph run, but a C8 Wheelie and setting some new records with a modified LT2 + Turbo, 1500 hp C8. Check out the run at 3.27 on this video. Just good clean fun!

I have a twin to LMR's red shop car just finishing (mines rapid blue) up now. Fingers crossed I'm picking it up next week. I'll report back once I get some time with it.

I saw that on Instagram and reached out.... what did it cost if you don't mind me asking?

Looking forward to hearing more about your build. Did you have engine work done as well, or mostly bolt on components?
WOW! Now, really looking forward to hearing (and seeing) some real life insight into how that build will perform within a range of driving conditions. What's your planned driving usage? Daily Driver? Drag Strip? Track? All the above? What wheels and tires will you be running?

Congrats on your upcoming Upgrade!
All of the above. 18" sticky to play on and just a wider set of 4s for running around (325 and 285).
I'll keep you posted!
I just got a quote for the Stage II procharger installed on my C8 and almost choked. $23,500 installed. Insane. Was expecting maybe $12k-$15k, not $23,500. As another $8k for the clutches to make it actually useful. Decided to hold off. Don't really need a second race car money pit.
