Default C8 side vent

I scratched the side vent on my C8 and had a high end auto body shop For Porsche & Mercedes tell me they had to remove the quarter panel and the rear bumper in order to remove the black side vent. I told them this is not true that only the door panel needs to be removed !! Please correct me if I’m wrong

Are you talking about the boomerang? If you are and it’s the one on the door, only the door panel needs to be removed.

The piece attached to the body comes off with 4 nuts that you can reach into the intake and remove. Here is a video.
