Default Serial Number/TPW

How long after you receive your TPW do you get your serial/build number?

Serial number is generally available when you hit status 3400.

So how soon before your TPW does your status change to 3400? My TPW is 1-31.

Actually, a TPW is available in GM's system at status 3000 (although very preliminary). However, neither your dealer nor the Concierge can see the TPW until it reaches 3400. The NCM can see the TPW as soon as it is available in GM's system because they have to schedule NCM deliveries and Build Photo Albums (which are limited to 10 per week). So, the answer to "how soon before TPW do you go 3400" depends on where you got your TPW from. Typically 3400 is about 2 weeks before the TPW. However, the tornado and snow shutdowns recently have likely extended that timeframe.

They are not doing photo albums since the plant went under Covid restrictions.

They definitely did photo albums since the COVID restrictions were put in place. Mine was built September of 2020 (COVID plant shutdown was earlier that year) and I have the Build Photo Album. They stopped doing the albums when test Z06's were being built prior to their release.

According to Shane just a few weeks ago - "The photo album program remains unavailable at this time. Visitor access to the Plant was suspended in May, which includes our photography team. It will be entirely at GM’s discretion as to when that program can resume."

Yep, that's when the test Z06's were being run through the plant. COVID had already been raging for more than a year at that point. My guess is they will restart them for the 2023 model year since there will be future owners doing the Engine Build Experience for their Z06.
