Default Composite Rocker Extension

Exactly what are the Composite Rocker Extensions. The Corvette order website does not really explain. Are they carbon fiber, or just black plastic? Do they actually extend anything, or just cover the rocker bump. Are they held on with rivets and double stick tape?
I like the look of ground effects, but the GM parts seem like just a cover that doesn't add anything. I have seen some big swoosh aftermarket ones for a lot more money. Not sure I want to spend any money, low cost solution, just paint the rocker bump black.
Any other ideas?

I believe they are just black textured plastic that cover the rockers , they do not extend. I think they are held in place by both rivets and 3m double sided tape.

I've seen them in both carbon fiber and black plastic, also in the Carbon flash that so many C8s come with from the factory.

I believe these are the specific ones he's referring to. These are black textured plastic.

Hi, @C5racecar , I had the same question. I know that "bump" will get peppered with sand and gravel, it's just the way it is. And I know I would hate that. Cars I've had in the past have had textured paint on such surfaces which worked really well. I expect the rocker extensions will do the same thing. Still, I ordered mine without. Instead I watched the Marketplace here and bought a pair from a member who had bought them and decided to go bigger and not install these. This way, when my car arrives, I'll look at it with and without and then decide. It is generally my approach to anything on my C8 order that can easily be added or changed later - splitters, spoilers, rockers, wings, wheels, center caps, mats, decals, carbon flash roof/nacelles, even seatbelts and interior carbon fiber - I order without, live with the car for a bit, and then decide. Adding stuff later refreshes the fun for me.

Hey Bird, That's pretty much what I see about rocker covers. There are plenty of aftermarket options out there. By next fall when I get my car, there will be more to choose from. $595 seems pretty high for black plastic, for a few bucks more, I can get carbon.
I am tempted to make my own. I have built several parts from carbon fiber, but that would be a lot of work to make molds for rockers.
