When a dealer gets an allocation are there any strings attached ? Is he allowed to "order" any kind of Corvette ? If "yes" does big brother GM select from his total allocations to optimize
factory efficiency and loading ?

Or are allocations assigned by type ie: so many coupes, so many convertibles and in the future so many Zo6's ? Bob C.

they can order whatever they want as far as vert/coupe as long as the options chosen (high wing, etc) aren't on constraint. once the z06 is out, those will be allocated separately from the stingray. we dont really know how chevy handles build optimization at the factory, but there is probably some of that happening.

This isn't so much an allocation thing and happens after. Once the dealers get their allocations and submit the orders then GM assigns build dates that maximizes efficiency for the factory.

If there are no constraints, the dealer can assign their allocations to whatever orders they have in whatever order they want. If there are constraints, each dealer is notified how many of each constrained item they are allowed to place in that cycle. When the Z06 is available to order, they will be constrained to some % of the total allocations in each order cycle. Once allocations are properly assigned to an order, the order goes to 2000. It will then go to 3000 by the following Wednesday. What order car are built is totally up to Chevy to decide. Who your dealer is, or how many allocations they have no longer matters at that point. Chevy will schedule them based on expected parts supply and other factors that we have no insight into .They have stated that they avoid building HTC's back-to-back as some assembly stations take longer for the HTC. Having 2 back-to-back would result in having to slow down (or temporarily stop) the line.
