Default GM Rocker extension

Trying to decide whether to add them or not on my C8 order.

Do they serve a purpose or is it just for looks?

I took them off my order, I plan on ordering side Skirts at some point.. makes no sense to get the rocker extensions in this case

Yep they do "something" but never liked the title since they "extend" nothing. They fit tighly over the lower body panel AND they are made out os a textures black material that will reduce the bad marked appearance of pebbles and debris thrown from the front tires. BUT only as far back as they go, which is NOT far enough.

Proof they don't go far enough back. A Tracker showed where Track rubber hit his C8. This occurred after the body area where the GM extensions end (pointed area on lower left of pic.)

I added GM "Splash Guards" as soon as I got my C8 home. Did little to stop pebbles on the road edges in the rural area where live from marking where the Tracker showed Track rubber struck to his rocker panels. It took about 6 weeks for my C7 Carbon Side Skirts to arrive. Fortunately they covered all marks and stopped any after from being visible. Like the full length side skirts I added to my 2014 C7, the Stage 2 Aero full length side skirts on my 2017 Grand Sport worked like the C8 side skirts have for 15 months. All marking is under the skirts.

If you are looking for not only looks but protection, I would go with the full length side skirts. JMO though as the side skirts are not cheap.

^^^^
I bought mine from C7 Carbon (a Platinum Forum Vendor) on an early introduction special. Can buy just the Side Skirts painted carbon flash (like mine) for $1249. Also no need to drill a hole in the fender. One OEM bolts and 6 or 7 rivets under the rocker panels is all that is needed!

I used some 3M tape in addition to OEM bolt and rivets. But belt and suspenders, really not needed.

I added the OEM Rocker Extensions to my order along with the OEM Splash Guards and they do the job for me at a much lower price than others are paying. I put 2100 miles on my car before I took it to have a full frontal Xpel package plus Ceramic Pro on the entire car and the shop owner was impressed with how well they protected my car. I had zero paint chips.
