Default Engine Appearance LED Bulb

Anyone know what type of bulb or assembly used in the Engine Appearance Package? Looking to change color and the manual only says “Contact GM”.

I think they are a unit with no user replaceable LED bulb. GM Part numbers: 84238354 (Left) and 84238355 (Right):

I haven't tried to see if there is a way to change the LED(s), maybe somebody else has attempted this.

Might be easier just to put a colored film on top instead of changing the LED>

Thought of that and I already have the film…..just looking for a brighter LED than the OEM.

Looking at the Paragon kits to use the rear defroster to light up the engine bay. So I guess I’ll buy it and try the film and see if the OEM LEDS are bright enough. The film is orange Lamin-X.

Ok, bought the PowerLabs cable from Paragon ($75) and used two layers of orange Lamin-x film and it came out perfect…..no pictures yet as I had to leave town for a few days.

The PowerLab install was literally 10 minutes….took me longer to measure, cut, and install the film!

@SoCal C8 Does the defroster turn on each time with the engine bay lights? Or, is there a way to control them independently? Also, what size laminex did you buy?

From what I’ve read the rear defroster would be on as well. I purchased a 4”x8” sheet of Lamin-x from Amazon for $8…..they had several tints. I used about half of it.

Damn, disappointing. I certainly dont want the defroster on simultaneously as the lights, wish it was a selectable option somehow.

In any case, curious to see the images as we both have orange cars...I have a 22 AO coupe.

I guess I don’t mind as I won’t have the engine bay lighting on very often. Besides, I would think folks living in colder climates have the defroster on frequently.

For me it an occasional night drive out and about…..
