Hi Kev, greetings from Atlanta. While there have been some minor and more significant issues with the C8, in 9 months and 3,000+ miles I have not experienced a single issue. The engine valve train problems were resolved as a small batch manufacturing defect. The more troublesome DCT issues appear to impact only a small percentage of the C8's out there (don't judge by how many complain on the Forum, as we all represent a tiny fraction of C8 owners), and with redesigns to certain components, hopefully the DCT's problems will be resolved. I get it that you have concerns with warranty and parts availability, but at least from my perspective, the C8 has so far been a reliable vehicle to own and operate. And it's an incredible buy for the performance. Good luck with your decision and hopefully a purchase!

Cheers,

Mark

The TREMEC TR9080 DCT in the C8 is so terribly flawed (if you listen to the forum complaints here) that even Maserati has decided to start using it in the MC20.

Well look at what you see hiding in the back there! What could that be???
https://www.thedrive.com/content-b/m...-dsc_0679.jpg?

https://www.thedrive.com/news/36339/...ercar-comeback

0-60 is 2.9s, curb weight is similar at 3300 lbs, but the MC20 makes 621HP and 530lb-ft of torque. Only about 35 lb-ft more torque than the Z51.
All those extra horses didn't help it to go any faster. Wonder if the TR9080 is the limiting factor? Will the Z06 be much faster, or mainly just a technical marvel with the new engine design?

My C8 is a exactly a year old with 4500 miles and I've experienced zero problems. This is the best car Chevy has ever built, GM has ever built. I had an issue with the trans update but it worked itself out after a couple of days driving and I don't consider that a problem.

I've just turned 16,000 miles in 1 year ownership of my 2020 HTC. I had a few SW updates as well as a new front lift cap installed. I have had 2 dealer oil services done. No issues yet. I suspect if you are still considering that you have not put a deposit on a car. If that is the case and you are not willing to pay over MSRP I would think you could maybe get a 2023 or 2024 C8. By then all of your concerns should have been solved. Life is short

The C8 platform is well designed. That being said all complex machines need some shake down time. Minor adjustments here-there. Nothing I would call serious. Most serious issue was the valve springs on some early releases, those were all sorted out. You can do three things that will prevent most problems and pay off with many happy miles. 1: Read the manual and tips on here. 2. Follow the break in periods. 3. read the manual again and study all available info. Car will run as good as you treat it, just that simple.

Drive well, drive safe.

You will be fine, as GM doesn't use Lucas.

I have a 2020 with the wet carpet in the passenger wheel well caused by the ac leaking condensate. Been back twice to the dealer and still not fixed. I talked to Tadge at the reveal in LA and he swears it is the grommet going into the tunnel installed wrong. I am letting the next owner of this car deal with it.

Thank you Guy`s for taking the time to answer my question(`s)....One of the issues over here is where i could get the car serviced to retain the warrenty and the same for obtaining parts..However a little forward planning could help with that issue...

Many thanks again your all star`s.....Kev.

Those arches / cutouts in the rear bumper, ouch! That is going to fold up like a cheap soup sandwich in an accident.

Beautiful bit of engineering kit though. If you manage to get the car, I think you will really enjoy it.

I agree with both of these descriptions of ownership. I'm about to hit the 5 month mark of ownership on my 2021 non-Z51 HTC 2LT and with almost 2300 miles on it not even a hiccup. I can't believe GM made the Corvette this much better than the other four I've owned. As a matter of fact, the only vehicles I own now are GM products and they have performed flawlessly.

Bloody-L mate, you will be able to terrorize all the Mustangs over there. In fact, you can pass them and have a pint drawn at the pub and enjoy watching their face when they pull in afterwards!

What part of England are you in? I was born in West Cliff on Sea in Essex.

Cheers,

-Gaz

Kev -- My 2021 3LT Z51 Coupe has been flawless. I'm amazed every time I see it, start it, drive it. An incredible automobile. In the UK they seem to pay a considerable premium for high-end autos. What is your local dealer telling you about the price of acquisition in British Pounds?

Got one of the first 3500 and it's been rock solid 12k mi no issues. Lots of "spirited" driving. 3LT all the goodies they all work flawlessly.
