(going 12 months now on the C8 waiting list at Classic Chevrolet.

my new salesperson (since the original salesperson who I placed my C8 deposit has since moved on, I periodically email to check my status on the magical C8 waiting list.
I was told I am 305 and that is for one list , not two separate lists . I have no way I knowing what the true allocation numbers are or will be from this date forward .
At this rate I estimate another 12 months , so hopefully a 2024 MY..
Too late to move over to the BIG 3 , They have over thousands on those waiting lists .

Get on a top 10 then, sounds like you’re on a road to no where currently.

Don't fall into the sunk coat fallacy. The top three do have over a thousand people on their Stingray lists, but they also get over a thousand stingrays every year. My position in the MM list has dropped 700 places since I joined summer last year. You can see the drop in a table I maintain on the MM thread.

Ignore the size of the list. You're thinking that you're still another 12 months out for a car. That's not significantly shorter than what the big 3 are giving for an estimate and, based on what I'm reading, you're pessimistic that your 12 months more with the local dealer might be longer.

Put a deposit down with a big 3 dealer. It's completely refundable. If the local dealer comes through faster then you get your money back. If they take longer or spring any cost surprises when the car shows up then you have a backup and aren't starting over.

I think that there's a possibility that demand for the Stingray is only going to get worse, so the longer you wait the harder it will be.

Talked to my local dealer this morning. I've been next on the list since Nov. They didn't get any allocations in Nov, Dec or Jan. He said he should have one this month but hasn't received the consensus or allocation yet. Seems some dealers must get different cycles or something. I've seen this in other posts as well where random allocations come during the month- not just the normal 1st\2nd Thursday of the month.

Also any allocations that come after are ones the district zone managers get to give out.

Maybe that's what he was referring to. I don't think they are lying- they have been very upfront about everything since I was put on the list in June. He would usually call me when they got an allocation to keep me updated where I was at on the list. He would also call me when they got one delivered for another customer that was ahead of me just to see if I wanted to come by and check it out. I've purchased from them several times in the past and they are very transparent.

Cant believe Classic is still doing this. They get around 100 allocation a years...did the same thing to me in 2020. Classic #305 is like macmulkin #3000 unless 50% of the classis drop their deposit as I did

Correct, the 15th is the deadline for dealers to have the orders entered in the system. They can start entering them on the 10th though. Congrats on your allocation

I’m with a smaller dealership in the Dallas area and got allocation in January. A buddy ordered his from a Kansas dealership that has only sold a couple and he got allocation in January, his order went in around Jan. 15th and he has a TPW if 2/21. Mine is 3/7.

I know, I was kind of shocked. I’m pretty sure my order went in at least a couple days before his. A different of two weeks is pretty big. Of course when I got my TPW I was at 3000. He checked about a week later and he was at 3300 so it’s possible my TPW could get moved up…probably wishful thinking. 😂😂

I often wonder what determine one’s TPW date? I would imagine one’s options including color and timing.

I actually asked Shane that question. I asked if it was location, options, when the order was placed, or all of the above. He wasn’t sure but assumed it was probably all of the above. I’m sure they have figured out the most time and cost effective ways. It makes sense to build X amount of cars for a certain part of the country so you have full rail cars. It also makes sense to send a certain number of cars with the same or similar options while they fill the staging areas with other parts for different options, then switch back and forth.
Whatever method they use to figure it out they seem to have it down to a science. When you think about the number of cars that roll out if that factory day after day they are efficient. It’s unfortunate that sometimes things don’t seem “fair” but if they were building them strictly on when the orders came in we’d all probably be waiting three or four months longer for our cars.
