Default Need help understanding order system

Forgive me if my questions have been answered in various posts but the more I read the more I'm overwhelmed with information. My local dealer just called and said that they have been granted an allocation so I went down, picked out my HTC, and gave them a deposit. I was the first customer to step up so it should proceed. My first question is how long before that allocation can be turned into event code 3000 where GM accepts the order. Then once I reach 3000 what has been the average time before it gets to 4000? What I don't know is what happens once an allocation is given. Does this just mean that sometime in the future GM will accept an order or does it mean that things will proceed quickly. For my C7 all went pretty quickly once a small local dealer was given an allocation. Thanks in advance for any help in sorting out the whole process.

I just received an allocation this month from MacMulkin. The email that I received said that 9-12 weeks was the expected delivery timeline, pending delays. I believe that you should go to 3000 status within a few days and then wait 5-7 weeks for the car to actually be produced.

My C8 order went to 3000 the middle of November 2020. It was built the end of the third week of January 2021 and arrived at the dealer February 10, 2021. Factor in that BG was closed a few weeks during that time because of the Holidays.

Thanks guys, that was just what I needed. In looking at the information available it was like trying to get a drink from a fire hose. Too much. I now have some clarity and understanding. Now it's time to figure out what do with my 2014 stick shift convertible.

If they assigned an allocation to your order (you should have the order number), then it should be at 2000 currently. It will go to 3000 by Wednesday.

Good new is there was a very small Jan allocation and the plant had a decent last 6 weeks so there is very few at 3000 ahead of you. I expect this group of allocations will get cars built faster than any other recent allocation cycle. Bad news is this cycle was very large so it comes down to luck on exactly when car will be built but I would assume 3-6 weeks. Good luck and enjoy the car. Should be perfect timing for you in Maine.

You are exactly right. December and January C8 Allocation amounts were low and it appears GM were ahead of the game with consistent production days, but it seems like a large amount of Dealerships received Allocations for February. I had multiple Dealerships reach out to me stating they had a Allocation for me for the February Allocation cycle on February 9th

True, but February allocations were pretty large, and among those February orders the OP's could be the first one built, the last, or anywhere in between. Could be as long as 6 to 8 weeks to build. How long it takes to get to the OP after that depends on a number of factors, including where the OP lives, and how many other orders are going in that same direction.

Actually a little delay would be fine. Right now in Maine I have a foot snow on the ground, nights still in negative numbers, and we are about to experience that 5th season here that we call "mud season." The next two months are designed to test the resolve of those who live here and it can get old very quickly. If it shows up in late May that would be perfect.

So today I got my order number, BJWW9D. I was told that production would be 3/21-3/27 so when should I look for my car to be in central Maine at my dealer?

A few variables, like quality control hold or the trucker, but if all goes well, about a week after it's built. Then a few days for dealer prep. You'll have in time for spring thaw. Congrats!
