I remember when I first went to order my C8, it was the first car that I was going to pay MSRP. I had a few other Corvettes but always waiting until the pricing wasn't at a premium. I don't know if anyone has been out trying to shop any other kind of car lately? In South Florida there isn't a new car that is being offered for sale at MSRP. Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Lexus, etc are all over list price and you are lucky to even be able to pick from more than just a few cars. (I know, I know, supply and demand) In the span of 2 years we've gone from negotiating off of MSRP to lucky to even think about getting MSRP. I know I sound like an old geezer, but I sure do miss the old days and after talking to a few car sales people, so do they. The dealers are the ones that are making all of the money. The sale commissions are cut and the dealer is always changing the rules for the employees. For those of us that are lucky enough to have gotten or have ordered such a great car as the C8 and paid MSRP, we sure are fortunate. You would think that the supply and demand argument can only go on for so long.
I'm 2/3 of the way through buying 3 new cars. My Vette, car for my daughter in college, and new SUV for the wife. Got the Vette from Kerbeck/Ciocca at MSRP in December, got a Mitsubishi Outlander slightly below MSRP (black Friday "sale") also in December, and wife's AMG GLB 35 was supposed to come in January at MSRP. But apparently our salesperson flat out lied to us, as he recently quit and the guy who took over had the misfortune of having to be the one to let us know that from the day we signed our order (in October), it was always scheduled to be built in March, not December like the first guy told us. I was pretty worried that he was lying about MSRP, but although there have still been some communication issues along the way, the dealership actually knocked a couple thousand off MSRP for how we were treated.
All in all, 3 cars at or below MSRP right now does feel pretty unusual, so while going from 0 car payments to 3 isn't great, I'm thankful for not having to "overpay".

Last year I bought my 2021 Kia Telluride from Miami Lakes Kia. All correspondence was done via email, I paid MSRP, with no BS add-ons, and the car was delivered to my front door at home on a flatbed.
Keep in mind, this is a car now in its 3RD model year, and STILL getting MSRP PLUS $5K markup at most Kia dealers across the country!
So when I get my C8 (MacMulkin), I'll have 2 high demand vehicles that I'm "fortunate" that I "only" paid MSRP for!
GM's Barra out today outlining that they will never return to the model of high inventory on dealer lots. Margins are high, demand is high and they will focus on building as many cars as possible while working with dealers to ensure new car orders are spec'd to sell quickly in that low inventory model. Seems like they have already made this adjustment in the way C8's are allocated.
Just over a year ago I picked up loaded 2021 Ram 1500 Limited - $11,000 off sticker - my best deal for a new car ever. My how things have changed....
This is certainly crazy times... my threshold for a new car was 20% off of MSRP... now I would kill for MSRP LOL
It's not too bad if you have a car to trade in as the inflated used car values offset the new car premiums somewhat, but now that I have two 2022 vehicles (C8 and a Truck) I'm dreading the time normal times kick in as I know I'll get nailed in the trade in...
I recently purchased a 2021 Toyota RAV4 at MSRP. The RAV4 had to be ordered because the dealer did not have any on his lot. The dealer had several used 2019 RAV4's on his lot that had 10-20 thousand miles on them and they were 10K more than a new RAV4 with the same options. I spoke to the GM and he said most used cars on his lot were more than the new cars. Thats the price you pay if you want to drive off the lot right away with a car.

Why do you think supply and demand is time limited? As long as demand exceeds supply, there will be either higher prices or product shortages (long wait times). Doesn't matter if it's in year one or year 10.
Yes indeed. My 2021 C8 was at MSRP. My 2021 GMC Denali 2500 HD pickup was MSRP, and my wife ordered a Macan GTS last month, also at MSRP. In the case of the truck and Macan, we had to go around to a few dealers to find out who would not charge ADM or and "hidden" costs.
Definitely sucks that we needed (wanted?!!!) three new vehicles in this climate....
It’s a mystery to me why folks trade so often…..if you’re not a car nut! We’re crazy but the average it’s just a car person has to swapping cars all the time. Why? When we had financial challenges we always bought used and always held the car 10 years.
Talking to dealers folks buy a new car, find some little thing they do not like and 6 months later trade off.
One thing the c8 has taught me…..I don’t care where I need to go to get a car. I just started chasing a blackwing. Local dealers are doing me a favor asking only 10 to 30k over. A few random calls and I found 2 dealers at msrp.
with the way the world is going today…..I’d be Leary of committing 12 months out.

Some of us (like me) get bored with things quickly. Definitely a negative personality trait.
I'm the same. My 24th Corvette, and the first I have ordered, is being built next week. And that is only the Vettes that I am counting. I've had Novas, Impala SS's, El Caminos and several old and new trucks. I get them where I like them and then get bored and want something else. Do I always make money on them, not really. But over the years I have been able to have some neat stuff to drive. One of the longest I have owned so far is my 2015 Caprice PPV. Going on 3 years and just can't seem to let it go. The new C8 will make a great addition to the garage and I hope to keep it for a long time (at least until the eRay.....LOL)
