We picked up our C8 an dimmediately headed south for a 10 day, 3000 mile road trip. With some lucky early spring weather hitting on a weekend, I've now had the chance to drive them back to back on multiple occasions. They are both fun, the C8 is tons better at nearly everything other than the top down fun cruising. I made the decision yesterday when I had to accept or decline my trade offers from Tesla to finalize my paperwork. The C8 is getting traded in next week.
My wife currently has a C7, and I took delivery of my C8 last month. My wife takes delivery of her C8 next month. I'd rather keep the C7 and have one of each than two C8s. The C7 does one thing better than the C8, and that happens to be the one thing I actually have a vette for. Fun, top down spirited driving on perfect days. If I needed to use it for anything else, I'd keep the C8 over it, but as it is, for the money, I'll stick with the C7.
Some people don’t want all the tech and detached feel of the new cars. Some prefer manual transmissions. Some prefer a less cluttered interior. Some don’t want a base model. Some want a faster track car (i.e. C6 Z06, ZR1, C7 Z06 still faster around many tracks than a C8 Stingray). Some prefer a Corvette they can mod for even more power and not have to worry about warranty or damaging other components. Etc., etc., etc.
Just because you feel your C8 Stingray is better than a previous generation doesn’t it make it so
All the cars you mentioned above are fast as hell....folks are gonna go get what they want and have whatever opinions or perspectives they choose..
C7’s are way over inflated. Why would I buy a 18-19 C7 for what I am paying for my 22 C8? I wouldn’t. C8’s are still bringing 20-30k over sticker on the used market. And they are selling. My local high end dealership had 2 2022 C8’s for 28k over. Both were sold quick.
Used C8's are not bringing 20-30 over sticker. They might be asking 20-30 over but they are not getting it. I shopped my c8 to all the online buyers, Carmax, Carfax, Southern Exotics and many more. A couple of the big boys told me they couldn't sell the C8's they had. Ended up trading it to the dealer where I am getting my new C8. He has feelers out all over the country with no takers. People thinking they are going to make big bucks on their used Corvettes, I hate to burst your bubble but that ship has sailed.

I had a friend sell one last week to a dealer for 14K over what he paid, plus he already has another one sitting at another dealership that is going to do an in and out for him so he’ll profit the 6-7K sales tax as well. It all depends on the market. IMO used car dealers trying to buy a car are always going to act like they really don’t want the car to drive the price down. When I checked CarMax a few days ago they only has 2 2022s in their inventory across the country. Agree the days of making 30K are gone but one can still make 10-15 without too much trouble. I’m talking about a very low mileage 2022. Depending on 2023 pricing the price could go up.

Most I see listed for sale are between $15k - $20k above original MSRP, which means they probably gave the previous owner anywhere between $5k - $10k over original MSRP. When sales taxes and fees are factored in, that means most are breaking even or walking away with slightly more than what they paid. As with anything, the more that are circulating in the market the lower the prices go. I think as soon as the Z06 starts production, Stingray prices will fall further.

Not busting my bubble. I deal in facts. I paid sticker, so I could careless either way. You are not getting a used C8 anywhere near sticker.

Seeing as there are about 5-6,000 people on the top corvette dealers waiting lists for a new Z06, prices on the C8 Stingray are not going to drop substantially. Z06’s will be bringing 50+ over sticker. Probably more!

There may be some who need to be first on their block to have one that pay that much over, but the majority will be sold at or near MSRP.
Seen this all before with C6 and C7, I will just take my time and maybe next year look into C8 new or a good deal on a low mile previous owned. My current C6 and C1 will do for now just fine.
Just noticed I am now a 15 year member this month!!

Right which is going to put it above what a lot of people will be willing to pay. Then we should see a little larger price increase on the 2023’s which might help keep the prices from dropping much.

Might be so for high optioned cars, but not all. Put my 2020 1LT two weeks ago up for sale. MSRP (PD $64,495). Got a call three hours later. Had it listed for $86,995 Sold it for $85,000.
Buyer flew in from Texas. Went to one of his branch banks. Got a bank cashiers check for $85,000 and he drove off. Just $20,000 over MSRP, and happy as hell!
Our original plan was to drive it for two years and try and get $50,000 out of it, Drove it for two years got $35,000 above that. Never dreamed that would happen.

Here is a fact for you. The car I traded to the dealer is setting on the show room floor with a price tag of 88,950 0n it. I paid MSRP of 89,250. Team Chevrolet Scottsbluff Nebraska. There is a picture of the car on their web site so you can see it for yourself.

Interesting. I did notice that your trade in has almost 20,000 miles on it, so there probably is a limit to the number of "free" miles you can put on before hurting the resale
value.

Must be an extremely weak market, 1LTs are going for 94-98K here. Just had a buddy sell his 2021 2LT Z51 he paid 89 for including tax and he got 96K from a broker.
I wouldn't let my sixth gen ZR1 go for any less then ppl are paying for a brand new loaded up C8 even though its now a 9 year old car. I have no plans to sell that car at all, in fact my C8 would go first. Once you can't buy a new ICE powered car anymore wait to see how much they will be worth to some people.
Eventually the EnviroNazi's will force your hand. You will be hit with insane gas prices and punitive insurance fees for not driving an EV.
They will make it harder and harder for you to fill your tank. In their dreams anyway, but their dreams may come true soon enough with dry sodium battery tech coming soon.

Last fall the high price I got from brokers was 104,000 with a low of 94,000. I held off thinking the price would stay plus I could enjoy the car longer. Five months later the high price from brokers was 88,000 with a low price of 65,000. The dealer offered me 83,000 so it was a no brainer because of the tax brake. I am not complaining because my 2018 Z06 MSRP 104,000 was bought by a broker for 65,000.This was before the insane price increase. I got one of the first 2020's. I get a new corvette every two years or twenty thousand miles which ever comes first. My 2022 will be Corvette # 10 so I know a little bit about selling Corvettes, My cars always have a lot of miles on them as we drive them all over the country. The high prices if people are getting what they say they are getting must be cars with no miles on them. This time when I get the car I will back it out of the garage every Sat., wax it and put it back in the garage. NOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT. TPW 3/21 ordered exactly like the 2020 minus the engine appearance package which was on restraint. 91,454.00 MSRP for the 2022.

No need to be defensive, I was just making an observation about the miles because I don't know that everybody will bother to look up the dealer that took your car in on trade. I think it is great that you drive your Corvettes a lot, but there is no question that a car with 20,000 miles is going to bring less than a car with 1200 miles. I expect that the used C8 prices are slowly softening, but the declining offers that you received for your car also coincided with added miles that you put on over time.
