Default Data recorder question

When I installed the memory card I set it up to record video with no audio. But when I start the car I get a message that it is recording both audio and video. I checked the setup again and as far as I can tell I did it right. It is set to record only video, but is recording both. Anyone know how to fix that? I haven't taken it out and played the video on my computer to verify it. I'm only going by the startup message.

Also, when the card gets full, am I correct in assuming that it records over the oldest file?

Can't help with you the audio questions, but do not assume overwriting records over any file. My 2020 is set to overwrite when the SD card is full, but doesn't. It will just stop recording. And I will only know it's full if I happen to notice the red recording icon is absent from the info screen. I've tried more than one of the recommended SD cards with the same result. Wish it worked correctly.

That message shows up whether audio is being recorded or not. I assumed mine was recording audio, and was surprised to find it was set not to.

You have to set the option to record over the oldest files. I haven't yet reached the capacity of mine, because I did reformat it once.

I think you and I have chatted about this before. Interestingly, I brought this up at Ron Fellows a few months ago. They acknowledged that 2020's have had this problem and they saw it first hand with many of the 2020's in their fleet.

Have you verified it is recording audio by playing the files? Mine is set to record video only but I also get the message that it is recording both. However, there is no audio when the videos are played.
I think GM just got sloppy in their wording. Like the message that you aren't allowed to use the front camera while driving.

Well, it's good to know that I'm not alone with this problem. I doubt GM ever provides a fix, OTA update or otherwise.
