Default C8 order question

I got the call from my dealer to place my order and did last month February 10th and I had ordered the high wing with it. I called my dealer a couple days ago to get an update and he said they’re waiting for GM to accept it. I saw on a forum here that if an order has a item on it that’s on constraint, it will not be accepted by GM until taken off. With the high wing being on constraint now, I was wondering if that’s why my order is taking so long to get accepted and if I should call my dealer and ask to have it taken off.

Have it deleted so your order will not be held. You can always order the part separately from GM or from a 3rd party. If you ordered the Z51 package, you'll have the pre-existing spoiler mounting holes that you can use. If you ordered a non-Z51 package, you'll need to have mounting holes drilled to accommodate the high wing. I believe the spoilers are dealer installed when ordered, but the bumper will come pre-drilled with the mounting holes from the factory.

I’m surprised the dealership didn’t do this for the OP. Mine did when they saw the spoiler was on constraint. Anyway, definitely get it removed so you can move to 3000 immediately.

I had the "constrained issue" several times when ordering Vettes. (One benefit ordering from Kerbeck (now Ciocca) as they are the largest Corvette Dealer and have been for years. In the C7 and prior, they were typically buying ~50 Vettes when there was a GM "place order window" open. If an Item was say 20% constrained that meant for them only ~10 of 50 Vettes orders placed could include that constrained item as that is all GM estimated they could fill. In that case, for C7s as an example, when they were also placing orders for their inventory-they typically had ~200 Vettes it stock- they just didn't order that constrained item for some of their inventory cars!)

In one of my 6 Vette purchase (all 6 built to my specs, "just for me" in Bowling Green) one item was 100% contained. I got a call from the dealer and opted to wait for the next order cycle and got it! For my C8 the order was accepted with the High Wing option and until two weeks prior to the build it was on the build list (I had checked with the dealer and Corvette Concierge.) Then two weeks prior got a call from the dealer salesman who said the high wing was constrained and you won't be billed. I had to do nothing!

Did they actually tell you that they had an allocation to pair with your order? They can submit any number of orders into workbench and they will all sit at 1100 status (preliminary order waiting to be accepted) until they actually pair it to an allocation which they receive monthly. There is a sticky on the front page that helps explain the ordering process. Hope this helps.

Definitely delete the high wing.

GM will not accept the Order until the Constraint options are removed from the Order, at that time the Order will reflect PASS and moves from Event Code 1100 to 2000 Order accepted by GM, which is where everyone wants to get.
