Default Android Auto / random questions

1. I was able to get Android Auto set up and Google Maps to show on the screen in the car. If I sit in the car and go to Google Maps on my phone, it won't open and says I have to manage it through the car. Is there anyway around that? I was sitting in my garage and not driving. Example I want to search for a restaurant or to see how far a destination is away. I was able to open Waze on my phone.

2. Is there a way to get Waze on the in-car screen instead of Google Maps? I use both for different reasons and usually switch between the two.

3. Also since I was sitting in my car in my garage, I didn't want to start it so I hit the push button start once quickly for accessory mode. How do I shut it off? I tried holding the button down but it didn't seem to do anything. I just walked away from the car and locked it with my key fob and I "think" it's off but not sure.

4. Can I start the car with the battery tender plugged in?

5. How do I mount the front license plate? The dealer didn't do it for me.

6. I didn't see any mode settings for sport, track, touring when I was flipping through the touch screen. Do I have to hit something first?

7. Can I have two phones hooked to Bluetooth at the same time?

8. Do I need to do anything special when parking my car in my garage for the winter in regards to the tires or brakes? I don't want the tires to get flat spotted or the brake rotors to rust or get warped.

9. How do I lock the car without the key fob?

10. How high does the HTC open? Was wondering if I can open it inside my garage. I have a standard size (7'?) high garage door.

11. How do I get the mirrors to open up when backing up out of my garage? I don't want to wack them on the garage door but I also sort of need them to see how close I am to the garage door. Unless there's a better way to get the best of both worlds?

Thanks!

Sounds like a good time to sit down and read the owners manual.

As to the Android Auto, ->Waze..

It seems to default to google maps, but if you hit the home button of the touch screen and select ANDROID auto from the menu, you should be able to pull up the home screen of you phone, minus those apps that don't work with AA... select WAZE and Bob's yer Uncle.

All those other questions .. it's time to read the manual, as the above post mentions.

Once I engage android auto, I have the same thing. I do my search first and have it find the directions before I leave the house. Then its on the drop down menu of recent directions.

If going through the manual isn't your style, watch this:
It's long, but it goes through every menu and feature. I watched before picking up the car.

If you want shorter chunks:

I'm not home right now but how about the answer to 1 and 3? I assume my car isn't still on.

When in acc mode (amber light) it will shutoff after 5 minutes and I believe when you open the door.

I'm knocking off some of these questions. I took it for my first drive today. I forgot the battery tender was hooked up and started it. Didn't seem to hurt anything but I shut it off and unplugged it then started the car again.

Only passed yellow line once. I assume it's rev matching if I give it a quick pounce on the throttle to yellow then let off? It feels like a CVT if I do that although I guess I don't know what to expect. That was in Touring mode. Seems a little better in Sport mode.
