I am curious where people go to get their aftermarket wheels installed on their C8s. Do you trust a place like Discount Tire? Is it better to find a place that is most used to dealing with higher end cars?
I am in Raleigh, NC if anyone has a specific place to recommend. Otherwise I am open to general suggestions.
I have purchased the wheels I want and will be using the factory tires.
I’ve had no issue with Discount Tire. Folks have been nothing but professional and also have Road Force balancing along with more than fair pricing.
Their are local shops you can find that specialize in aftermarket tires and rims, but I agree with C21 that Discount Tire has been great. I’ve taken a few of my C7’s there when I picked up nails and they treated it with kid gloves.
Your question is quite valid... Even though I've been a discount tire customer for 20+ years I'm hesitant to have them handle my custom powder coated wheels.
My strategy is to call them ahead of time, explain my reservations and ask for an appointment with thier most experienced tech for the job. They seemed agreeable on the phone and assured me they will take special care. Hopefully the techs will be so enamored by the new Vette they will take good care of it. Will be getting road force balanced Tpms transfer and hazard warranty.
Wherever you go, take pics and/or video of all your wheels. I even go around the car to video it. Can be helpful if I find damage but I don't want to blame a shop for something that was already there that I wasn't aware of. DT scratched a black C7 oem wheel I had brought in for nail puncture repair and they bought me a new one without a fight.
I too will be getting new aftermarket wheels soon and will use the same tires. I plan to have the dealer do the swap because I have talked to the Corvette tech, and he has done a few already on the C8.
I feel more comfortable with someone who knows how to raise the car, and he has answered any questions I had when I was there for the delivery prep and then later for the oil change.
I was forced to take mine to the dealership and naturally paid a premium on the labor. Tried a couple of wheel/tire shops (Mavis, Black's, NTS) in the area but none would touch the car. Their lifts were not able to go under the side skirts without risking damage to the body. At least at the dealer there is some peace of mind that they (supposedly) know the car and know what they're doing...especially given all the hysteria surrounding proper jacking points and frames cracking. So yeah I paid a little more than a chain tire shop but I take solace knowing it was at least done right.
Down here in SW Florida I've used the local Goodyear Dealer who has the machine to do the installation on my C6 & C7. But I also found a shop that puts and sells wheels on trucks, cars and everything who would do my C8 in about an hour. They did an excellent job and I'd recommend them . BTW I added permanent jacking pucks to my C8 which I'm glad I did.

I’ll throw in a third recommendation for Discount Tire. The only minor issue I had with them was over the torque spec for my 2013 ZL1. Their computer had the Camaro torque spec at 140 ft/lbs. My ZL1 owners manual listed it at 110 ft/lbs. I just had to show them the manual and they torqued the wheels to 110.
I get what your concern is. Let me pass along my experience with Discount Tire Oro Valley AZ. Service couldn't be any better. We always buy our tires at Discount. Now 30 years and counting. And when I wanted to mount HREs on our C7, I talked to them. No problem they said. I was cautious and let it be known. We've got the latest and greatest equipment and labor to match they said. Now I'm paying attention when we are there. Since then, I've seen a Bentley, a Rolls, three Ferraris, two Lambos, Aston Martin, handful of Tesla Model S, and countless Porsches in their shop. Mgr told me they had done a Bugatti Veryon, but I didn't see it sadly. The King Ranch Ford F250 was likely $100K list. These just the ones I witnessed first hand. They get high end cars. And I kinda felt like the other brother Daryl.

While this Mobile company (https://zohr.com) may not be in your location, there might be other Mobile tire service options near you that could be investigated. I have not used Zohr, but they were recommended by another CF member in an earlier post. I plan to give Zohr a shot, once I have a C8.......... Would need to first verify the equipment they use, experience with specific cars, insurance coverage for potential damage, etc., etc.

The mobile company I checked with did not road force balance.

When I was getting new tires for my C6, I took the wheels off the car and brought them up there and had the tires mounted. Discount Tire has always been great, but I didn’t want to take any chances with them lifting the car on my lowered C6 with side skirts.
Better yet, just get the red jacking pucks with the "LIFT HERE" text on them, and locktite them in place. Then just tell the service guy to look for them.
I used Discount. Made the appointment on-line in advance and in the comment section mentioned that “…:this was/is a brand new car, I’d like their best/most experienced tech.” And that’s exactly what I got. Guy was so fantastic I tipped him $20… Though they use floor jacks, so less of a concern, I supplied and they used my pucks to insure they used the correct jacking points (plus I keep a printed copy of the jack point diagram in my puck box).
My MO at Discount Tire having one new tire because nail was close to sidewall and one repaired with a plug patch was simple. Told the manager wanted his best tech AND there was a $20 tip if not one mark on the rim! Worked both times!
BTW had their tire insurance for my OEM Z51 tires ~$225. No cost for new tire or repair.
