I received my VIN# on 10/5/21 and my car was built on 10/14/21.....so 9 days before it was built for me....car was delivered on 10/27/21 to my courtesy delivery dealer in AZ. Might have actually been sooner than 10/5 21 but that's the date I asked Lori for it and she provided it to me.
Thanks for the reply's.
I guess the bigger question is Do I need it before I buy the car?
It would be nice to shop for insurance before the sale so maybe I'd want the vin for that? Anyone have experience with that?
Any other reason an early vin would be beneficial?
Thanks for the reply's.

As far as insurance goes, if you have a current policy in place for other cars you own, you should be covered. My insurance company, State Farm, assured me that I didn't need an insurance card for my new C8, although I had them create one for me when I received the VIN#. Your dealer should accept either one when you pick the car up. I'm not sure if that process applies in all states. It does in AZ where I live. Hope that helps. I would give your insurance company a call to confirm. Bottom line, you'll have your VIN# long before you take delivery of the car.

Thanks for that. I typically call GEICO after I drive the new vehicle home, which might take a few hours with this one depending on the weather. Then, when I get home I've got all the paperwork in front of me when I call them. The first thing they always want to know is the VIN.
I would like to shop around and get some quotes from other insurers before I contact GEICO. I've found that if I do that I can sometimes get a better rate with them.
I guess I've just talked myself into why having the VIN early would be a good thing.

National Corvette Museum ins. didn't need a VIN to give me a quote. I've had other ins. quotes for previous cars where they couldn't quote without it. I found a 2022MY C8 listed for sale at CarMax with the same build as my order, just a different color, so I should be able to use that VIN for a quote until I get mine.
