Ok, I'm paranoid about Transmission problems after reading previous posts. Has anyone experienced this ? I have a steep drive and this has happened twice, should I be concerned? First time it happened I was pulling into garage in auto 1st gear. Pulling in slowly I let off gas a little and felt a clunk, thought I hit the side of the garage! I got looked and was fine, put car in gear and pulled in no issue. So I thought if I put it in manual mode first gear before going up drive it might help. No issues for a long time until today it did the same thing, so very infrequent but concerning none the less. Over kill or something to worry about ? Thanks
I have a steep driveway also. I have had the same thing happen. When you are pulling in and go on and of the accelerator lightly it kind of goes in and out. It’s like it has trouble working the clutch. I keep it moving slowly and stay on the accelerator very lightly.

Depends on how many miles you have. I had a jerky feel when pulling into my garage at a crawl. As I did with my C7 manuals, I come almost to a stop as the driver's mirror gets near the garage door wood molding as I keep the gap about 2 inch max. Then I'm sure the passenger mirror is fine. I am not pulling in perfectly straight as I make a "K" turn to get reasonably straight as turning 90 degrees from my driveway.
So where with a standard shift I'd disengage or slip the clutch the C8 has to do the same. Below ~3 mph it has to slip the clutch or the car would stall! Until I had about 1000 miles (and the multiplane clutch disks had a chance to wear in) it did feel a bit jerky as it went from being engaged to slipping. BTW that clutch is NOT disengaged when stopped, as at a red light. It's slipping slighlty!
Would not be concerned as Tadge said it's designed and built to handle that slippage. Probably why the 1st gear clutch (3rd, 5th, 7th gears as well) is the outer, larger of the two!
Outer clutch is for 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th gears. Inner for even numbers gears!

I'm experiencing some of the same at only 530 miles, good to know it will smooth out some, other than that I love how this DCT shifts.

Yep, was rough enough initially and since I drove in Manual Mode for a month (to get past my 60 years of only having standard shifts as a DD) I pulled both paddles as I came to a stop. that is a way to disengage both clutches. Now don't even think about it!
I have a slight incline going into my garage. I find it a little touchy to ease in slowly. I think others may be correct that the feature that prevents roll back is involved. It takes a little gas for it to start moving, and then it moves forward with a little more lurch than I would like. With some practice, I can do it relatively smoothly. Just experiment with it. I have never heard or experienced a clunk that sounds like I hit something (as described in your OP), but that could have to do with how steep of an incline you are dealing with. I am never concerned about the clutch when attempting to creep forwards slowly - I do the same thing with all of my clutch cars when necessary (not to hold it in position but to move forward slowly for short distances). I have seen clutches burn out, but usually that's from more severe abuse. I get that there may be a concern that the C8 clutches are not as robust as manual clutches, but it would be disappointing if that turns out to be true. They are meant to handle a good bit of power and shifting during hard acceleration (launch control and rapid exit modes). I don't recalls anyone reporting (even with a DCT "failure") a problem specifically with the clutch wearing.

Perhaps the “Hill Start Assist” is engaging? If you’re going so slow as to nearly stop. You should get a dash display when it does engage.
I thought this at first. Where you actually pull into my garage is not a heavy incline it is only slight. Before you pull in it is a steep incline. So I tried to mimic the same situation on the steep part to see what would happen. The hill descend control kicked in. It was totally different. It was not a clunk. It was very smooth and it just held you there.

I have this happen periodically pulling into my garage. And I have over 5000 miles on my C8. It definitely startles you because you think you’ve hit something.
I agree with LANZ06, It seems like the computer is confused and doesn’t know when to engage or disengage the clutch at low speeds. I know a lot of folks on this forum sing the praises of the C8 DCT but in all honesty it’s not one of my favorite aspects of the car.
i think i am avoiding this by keeping it in D while the garage opens instead of putting into park. The two times it happened, I had unloaded a passenger outside first and put it in park.
