What was the deciding factor or factors that made you purchase/ get in line to get a C8 as your first corvette? For me was the first time a saw one in person and the fact I had always wanted to own a high performance mid engine car.
Benz I was going to buy was $200k and the government here threw a 25% luxury tax on highly priced cars so $250,000. I was OK with the car but not the damn government stealing money I earned. (I am just doing my income tax and I am taxed at 53% earnings.)
The new style and design, inside and out. Nothing else like it. Most of the new cars all look the same, no matter what you pay. Looked at a few new C7s before the C8 came out but didn't get blown away by them, even with the big discounts they were offering. After I saw the new C8 reveal on July 18, 2019, that was it for me. Even though that was well over two years ago now, I still haven't seen anything that compares to the C8, especially in that price range.
Well my first Corvette was a C5 and it was after a doofus rear ended my previous car totaling it….
my C8 was after a doofus totaled my C7 Z06… so 2 of my 6 were doofus related.
Was love at first sight and test drive for me. Thought corvettes were cool but never saw myself owning one until I saw the C8. While driving to work and a bright yellow something on an Audi lot pulled my eye. Called the dealer later to inquire, found out it was a corvette and scheduled a test drive. Now that I finally have the car, it turns out I actually like driving. A lot changes when you go from a corolla to a corvette.
I've always dreamed of owning a mid-engine car and the fact that this car looks so mean on the road! Mine is scheduled to be done this coming Friday!!!
Wanted a C7 for the big engine, light weight, and practicality for a coupe. The crazy used market pushed me towards a new GT350. Really liked the GT350 but thought the C8 offered a higher level of performance, more practicality day to day, and I prefer the C8's design.
It was about the same, I ordered without even sitting in one.
I did get to sit in one, after I'd already put my down-payment down!...And sitting in it just made me want to drive mine even more so!...So about 14 months later it showed up...Well worth that wait ,and I tell that to every person I come in contact with that is currently waiting for a car..
I bought my first Corvette, a '91 C4 coupe, back in 2010. Upgraded a few years later to an '04 C5 coupe. I was planning on upgrading to a C7 until I saw my first C8 in person back in 2020. By then, I knew it was the new C8 for me. I'm now the proud owner of a new '22 C8 coupe. No plans to upgrade to a Z06 or an e-Ray at this time. I'm still learning and enjoying my C8. I can't wait until the weather starts to get a little warmer so I can enjoy driving it even more.
I had considered it a "wasted life" to have never owned a Corvette. ..I had been looking at them for years and had been pricing C5s and C6s when the C8 came out. I thought ... SCREW IT I'll buy myself a new one for the 68th birthday... On my 67th I started the process talking to dealers. Got on a couple of dealer lists and 3 months later put in a deposit at MacMulkin. ... I got the car a couple of months before my 68th.
I had built the Monogram 1/8 scale C2 Corvette back in the 1960s, and still have the box.
There are plenty of reasons to buy a C8, styling, 495HP, DCT, mid engine, sound, handling, technology. I forgot that I drove an Acura NSX on the race track many years ago, It was awesome, underpowered, but fun to drive, good grip, very stable.
That convinced me that mid engine is by far the best layout for a sports car. Ferrari and Lambo have had it for years. I have a C6 and love it, C7 are cool, but when Corvette announced the mid engine platform, I was immediately ready to buy. An NSX is 2X the price of a C8, Ferrari and Lambo 3X or 4X, that's all you had to say. I just wish I had put money down sooner. I'm 6 months away, and counting every day.
Been a Corvette fan since my college days in the early 70s. Never a fan enough to own one though. Camaros were my performance car of choice. When Chevy introduced the mid engine Corvette in July of 2019, I still wasn’t hot to get one. Two months later when the hard top convertible was introduced and I saw the top fold down over the engine compartment, I finally said, I’m in.
