So as the title say I need a little help understanding, so I sent a deposit for a C8 last week and it went through on 03/28/22 so i called to see if I’m on the list and they told me I’m number 4742 on the waiting list, from what I read here I’m assuming the list starts at 3000? Since it’s almost certain it’s going to be a 23 MY which means that there are 1742 people in front of me? Btw deposit was placed with Ciocca corvettes… are my assumptions correct or am I way off?
You're confusing your position in line with the Chevy status number and if you're number 4742 in line, you will not be seeing a car for years and years and years.
Ciocca is deli style reservation numbers. Your number doesn't change and they move up the list as they get allocations.
Those around 2600-2700 took delivery this month. Those around 3100-3300 got March allocations. So OP at 4742 is in effect around number 1400 since there are around 1400 in front of him that have not yet received allocations.
The GM of Ciocca himself recently said it is realistically a 12-15 month wait so that's the range I would go with.

I don't have any idea why people jump in with "answers" to questions they don't know.
You are basically correct, Ciocca never zeroes their list. It is always growing. It works just like the deli counter. I believe they are around 3,200 now but the thread about them will give you a better idea. Regardless, you are roughly 1500 plus spots away. Likely a little over a year to order plus a couple months for delivery.
If you have the money, throw deposit money a few different places and see how it plays out.
Good luck

Asking the dealer might have been a good first approach, but the way others have explained the Ciocca process, it sounds like a year or so would be the target for getting your car.
Why wouldn't you just ask the dealer any question you have when you give them your money? Been there, done that.
I tried to email them but I haven’t got a response yet but from what I was reading it looks like a year wait which is what I was expecting from what I see in the forum that is just about the norm

yeah the waiting process sucks but it’s going to be worth it, love corvettes so I’ll sit and wait thank you for your response

Mid 2021, I called Ciocca (nee Kerbeck). I ask where I would be on their list? The timing of getting a car? The guy hung up on me. No kiss on the cheek. No warm fuzzy hug good night. Kaboom!
Ordered my at Chriswell in MD 3/24/22, 12-14 months wait for order, 2-3 months for build. Spoke to Ciocca last week, they quoted me the same time frame.
