I just purchased a used 2022 Z51 with 1200 miles and noticed a dash warning that states "time to change the oil" . Why is this coming up with such low mileage?
As stated, this is time-based despite low mileage. My C5 is not like this, but my C7 is; so they either went this route with the C6 or the C7. Just get it changed and follow the rules for now. After the warranty lapses do whatever you want.

yea same here 450 miles 2022 and 49% oil life....so this car you have to change oil every 1000 miles?
The counter probably starts when they put oil in it at the factory on the production line, so the important 12 months is from build date, not when you picked up the car.

this makes sense as it's been 6 months...so the fluid metrics are based on time
I got my car in June 20 21 but it had been at dealership since January 2021. In Jan 2022 my car told me to have the oil changed. This makes me think that the counter starts when the car is completed at BG. Driving conditions are also factored into the oil change algorithm.
If you bought it from a dealer, they should have changed the oil. If you got it from an individual...I would change the oil regardless of the meter. I would want it changed regardless of miles or meter....just for the piece of mind.

Perhaps it is part of the PDI to reset the counter and this got missed. My car was counting down from the date I picked up my car and not the manufacture date.

Makes sense, but it usually takes 12 months (or a lot of miles) for the counter to go down that far. Has a ‘22 been built a year ago?
