Pictures won't help much, you'd need a video.
Its pretty simple.
Use your finger to swipe the screen to the right like you do on a smart phone. I think you can actually pass the screen and continue to cycle between the different screens so you need to stop on the split screen.
Or you can tap the Home button under the volume **** a couple of times. I think the split screen is the last screen doing this so you could just tap the button repeatedly.
Give it a try.

On the Apple Home Screen there are like 8 little squares on the bottom left of the info screen, hit that twice and it splits the screen up between the various app, hit it again and it goes back to the default screen.
