I am doing Museum delivery hopefully by late May (last of the 22s ). I will be towing home to northern IL on an open 20 ‘ that I normally use for my c4 drag car. I use straps though the wheels on that car . What is the best way to bind down a C8.? Also heard some folks back on cause of mid engine ? If I can pull up enough to put center of gravity past axles is that ok ? Does anyone know where center of gravity is ?
Good guess would be right behind the front seat. I would tie down via the wheels with padded straps to allow the suspension to work. That's how I tied down my race cars.

Found this a while back in a previous post and used it to locate a twin post lift in my garage.
Thanks that definitely helps I feel if center is around 1 foot forward of the center of the trailer axles should get me close on tongue weight . Could someone please measure approx from center of front tire to tip of the front of C8 I can then add that to 65” to see if I can fit the car facing forward

41 inches. There is a video about why you want as much weight towards the vehicle, which encourages backing it on. If I recall it makes the trailer less apt to wag the dog.
Just reading the post - and hope I never have to trailer my C8…. But I do have an interesting story about backing it on to the trailer.
A good friend of mine had just finished his Factory 5 GTM kit car - a Ford GT looking replica that used many C5 components - Engine, suspension, Door handles, seats. The finished car is Mid engine with a Porsche trans axle, with a rear weight bias.
Anyway, I loaned him my open 20 foot trailer, and he wondered which was to load the car. He decided to go with Backwards, and tied it down to the trailer. It towed just fine until the wind blowing on the back window/trunk cover, popping it loose and blew it over the top of the car, destroying the paint and breaking the windshield too.
Tongue weight should be about 15% of total trailer weight . There is a way to measure tongue weight with a bathroom scale which I did once with my C4 to know where to put that car on my trailer It put center of gravity of car about 1 ft past center of trailer axles so if can pull the c8 up 64+41+12 inches front of car to center of trailer axles I should be very close to my 15% ideal tongue weight thanks for the measurements
I trailered mine from PA to FL and back after the ROLEX24 on an open 20 ft trailer. Pulled straight on and tied down through the wheels with no issues at all.
Trailered my C8 700 miles with no problem. After some research this is what I did.
1. Used a 18 foot open trailer and loaded the C8 front first. Front raising gave plenty of clearance. No problems with the center of gravity but did pull forward more than I did with the C7.
2. Used T hooks on the slots in the frame. Very easy to find and secure. You don’t have to worry about scratching your wheels with wheel straps. Crossed straps.
3. Put a bra on the front to help protect front bumper.
4. Do a quick wax at the dealer to help protect from spray, etc.
Vette aviator I like those frame thingies what are they called where would I find them I see that you cross front and back do those go same places as jacking pucks ?
Loutruffa, I ordered them at TrucknTow.com. I believe they were $16 each. Amazon also has them available with rings. I used u-bolt connectors from my local hardware store. Just insert them into the slots on the frame and attach straps. Very easy to reach at the edge of the trailer. You can also get the T-hooks mounted on straps if you plan to trailer the C8 on a regular basis. The picture shows the slots which are also where a jack puck would be placed. I had no problems with clearance with the straps since the T-hooks come down under the frame several inches.
I have been towing my Corvettes to and from the track for years and have used two different types of Macs Tie Downs. Both mentioned here. I used to use the hooks into the frame while criss crossing the straps. What I have found with these, is that they do not allow the suspension to travel while underway. I have since switched up to the cloth strap method going through the wheels and attached to the binding straps. This will allow the car to "breath better" while underway. Meaning the suspension will be active as the car is being towed. In my opinion, this method is a lot more friendly for the car and the suspension and less apt to damage anything in the suspension. I also always drive the cars on, even my C8. Hope this helps in some way.
The snap hook on a 2 inch strap will not fit through the T-Hook so you need a u-bolt shackle. I would recommend using a snap hook so that it is secured.
