I don't think that's what he said.
He's clarifying that the reason the C8 be bought was so much more is because it was VIN 001 (aka the very first production C8).
The Z06 he got for a "bargain" at 1 million was NOT vin #001. It was the first RETAIL Z06 produced, meaning its VIN # is higher.
The 3+million C8 he bought is much more "collectible" being the very first production mid engine corvette ever (aka not a test mule or prototype).
That's what I took away from his post, and it makes sense and explains the cheaper price of the Z06 relative to the first C8 he bought.

Yes, Rick Hendrick bought two C8 Z06's. The first one he bought at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale and it was the rights to the first Z06 Coupe and VIN #001. The second one he bought at Barrett-Jackson in West Palm Beach and it was the rights to the first retail Z06 Convertible.
