Me again . I had a question that I was curious about and couldn't find the answer when searching, so I figured I would just ask. I am purchasing from either Ciocca or Criswell (whoever gets the allocation first) and will be doing a CD to a local dealer here in Texas. This is where my question comes in.
Is it possible to get a CD to a dealer in Florida, rather than in Texas? The reason why I ask, is I have a friend in Florida that owns his own tint shop and I have always used him to do my window tints. I would also be getting PPF on the car, which he does as well. I wasn't sure if I was allowed to CD to a state that isn't my own (Florida instead of Texas). Any info/thoughts on this would be nice. His tint shop is in Boca, so likely would CD to a dealer near there, if possible.
I’d ask your dealer for sure. However it’s simply being drop shipped from the factory for you. You will pay for the delivery. I wouldn’t think it’ll matter who you choose to accept it. That being said you may have to do the registration yourself when you get back home.
A close friend here in the Reno area bought his car from Kerbeck back east, total money was paid to Kerbeck, MSRP plus TAX, and LICENSE, and Kerbeck even took care of the licensing process. I believe he had to have his Nevada license plate mailed from the Nevada DMV to Kerbeck so the car could be shipped to a Courtesy Delivery dealership in southern Arizona, but the car got shipped to Az before the license plate got to Kerbeck. My friend then simply flew to Arizona to pick up his car and paid a few hundred dollars to the Az dealership for the courtesy delivery. However, he then had to get his License Plate shipped back to Nevada from Kerbeck, and it took about a month for all that paperwork and mess, and the car was required to be licensed in Nevada within a month(?) of the sale. It was impossible to find an MSRP dealer close to Reno, so that is why my friend chose Kerbeck for the sale, and the dealership in Az was pretty reasonable in price for taking the Courtesy Delivery.
Well the bottom line is that it was a paperwork mess, and considering the flight to Az, the wait at the Az dealership while my friend stayed in a motel, and paid for breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, it might have been just as cheap to have paid over MSRP for a closer dealer than to endure all the trouble.
Think carefully and plan carefully because in the long run, the logistics can be daunting, costly, and time consuming. IMHO it's better to work with a local dealership if possible, but in some cases they're a** h***s and just can't be dealt with. Again, my humble opinion, and speaking for what happened to my friend here in Reno.
Depending on where in Florida you are thinking.... I used Stingray Chevrolet in Plant City (East of Tampa off of I-4), they were fantastic! $450 with a full tank of gas...
I can provide contact information if you are interested...
I bought mine from Les Stanford in Michigan (purchased a couple of Vettes from them before) and had it delivered to Stingray as I live in Florida now... Paid Les Stanford for the car (MSRP) and then paid Stingray for taxes/licensing/etc... Stingray worked with my dealer to get my trade in as well, which helped reduce sales tax...
If you want it licensed in Texas, I think you have to pay those taxes/licensing, but Stingray would probably be able to help you understand what the options are...
I don't think GM really cares about where you have the CD, but to be sure check with Mike Furman and whoever you're dealing with a Ciocca, and with the dealer in Florida where you'd like to have it delivered.
I had a CD done in November. Ordered from MacMulkin and CD was in Texas. I’m a FL resident and spend half the year in Texas. I had my car Delivered in Texas but had it registered in FL. MM was able to take care of all of this for me, since I wasn’t able to make it back to FL in the near future.
I'm buying from Criswell. I live in Kansas but my courtesy delivery will be at a Missouri dealership. Mike Furman told me that Criswell will collect my Kansas sales tax from me to satisfy GM's requirement and then turn around and send a check for the sales tax back to me. My assumption is that Criswell will send the MSO with the sales tax refund. Then I'll go to the Kansas DMV and register and license the C8 and pay the sales tax like I've always have done when buying a car outside my home state. Then I'll take the registration and plates to the courtesy delivery dealership in Missouri when I pick up the car. I wouldn't think that the courtesy delivery dealership would release the vehicle to me if I didn't prove it was mine by presenting the registration. If I remember correctly, I won't get the actual title from Kansas until several weeks after I register the car at the Kansas DMV.
When all this happens probably depends on how long there are constraints on mag ride. I assume that my order was entered into the GM ordering system on 04/12/2022 or soon after since that's when I confirmed by signature that Mike Furman had my specs correctly.

Thanks. This is basically what I want to do, just the opposite state. I would rather register it in Florida to my moms address, but my license is a Texas license. If I have to pay the taxes ahead of time and again in Texas, so be it. I guess atleast I get the refund from the dealer. Would rather not, but it is what it is.

I might use them, as they seem to be very popular and trustworthy in Florida. Most of the South Florida dealers I have ever dealt with have been "less than kind", to say it nicely. Plus I can stop by Sarasota and see my friend there .

Doubt GM cares as long as the CD dealer agrees to accept it! That has to go on the order. Around here not so easy to get one to say yes!
Bought my C8 (and 2 others) from what is now Ciocca. Salesman sent me a temp NJ plate I used when I picked it up. They handled all the sales tax issues with the State (max in SC is $500 for cars) and I was sent a SC License Plate and ownership cert from the State capitol before the NJ temp plate expired!
In SC we have to pay a personal property tax before SC will issue the plate. It's managed (fee amount as well) buy the local area. I had to pay that, which I did with my VIN about when the car was delivered. Did not need with the NJ temp plate ONLY to get a SC plate. Ciocca handled everything. I nor the CD dealer did anything!
