I believe the C8 model run will be at least 10 years long due to the enormous amount of capital GM has in it's development that will need to be recouped. Also the late development of the Z06 and E-ray will also lengthen it's production span.

GM claims it will be all electric by some certain year doesn't it? Are we thinking the E-ray is all electric, or a hybrid. I am wondering if the next change will be if/when there is an all electric Corvette. I am not sure what the "mid engine" concept would be in an all electric Corvette - which could have motors at each wheel. If it is still a C8, what would we view under the coupe rear hatch?
It has been reported elsewhere, by a source with connections to the Corvette team, the the C8 was originally planned for a 7 year run, but that due to the delay in production from the strike, reduced production levels from supply chain issues, and delays in developing forthcoming models due to COVID that will be extended. Probably by a couple of years, but I doubt a final decision has been made yet.

GM says all-electric (except for heavy trucks) by 2035. That would be a 15 year run if the C8 hangs on that long, which seem unlikely to me. The E-Ray is, according to all leaks and rumors, a hybrid, and not all electric.

ERay is going to be a hybrid. Kind of sad isn't it? With an all electric C9 there will be nothing to look at but 2 or 4 small metal cylinders for an engine with a heavy wire harnesses attached (and of course no sound to speak of). But it will be very fast (and heavy).

Perhaps the stylists will find a way to make the electric motor and components look futuristic, fancy and exciting (to some). If not they will have a fancy plastic cover to make it look fancy and exciting.
I'm hoping for at least 2026. That's when my current car will be up for replacement and I'm also hoping by then that the waiting list will have been pruned somewhat. I plan to get NCM delivery.
The fate of the C8 is in the hands of the EPA. Unless Chevy can overcome the new CAFE for post 2026 with EV sales, then I suspect at minimum Chevy will have to limit production of an ICE Corvettes. From what I have been reading (Rumors) the ERay will not be an improvement in fuel mileage, just a performance improvement, so the ERay won't help the CAFE.
I hope that the EPA will wait and see if the EV fleet is going to be accepted by the masses, allowing the C8 ICE to continue past 2026.
Again.... I don't have any special inside Info on the EPA, just reading and listening to environments and from that I'm sharing my opinion. Let the Krakens loose.
In theory 3 more models to release after the Z06 and the demand is insane high with low supply. Can't see this not going 10 years. Only thing I could see is a c8.5 refresh like the C6.
Next election will have a big impact on how long ICE performance cars are viable.
I don't expect E-Ray until 2024 model year. Could be a Grand Sport version in 2025 or ZR1 in 2026 or 2027. "Zora" super version of ZR1 final model year 2028 or 2029.
So I think it has a ways to go. I expect them to put the most development efforts into the E-Ray as the basis for the C9 which will be hybrid in base form, if not fully electric.
GM keeps saying full electric by 2035 so they could theoretically keep the C8 going into the 2030s in E-Ray or C8.5 or whatever have you form. Run it all the way to the end and then launch all-electric C9 in 2035 to kick off the electric-only GM of the future.
^^^^ I believe the C8 WILL BE the last ICE Corvette. Maybe later variants will be hybrid, but I still think it will be the last Corvette with an ICE. So I expect it will run until they can't sell it.
It might even lead to a situation similar to the change from C3 to C4, wherein GM creates a whole new manufacturing facility for the replacement.
