I understand that. So what you're saying is, this is completely normal, and all C8's do this? The trouble I have with that logic is...I'm in automatic, tour mode. If I was in manual, flipping to higher gears, then that's on me. I'm just driving the car leisurely in auto. Which, you're saying, is causing the engine to lug.
It isn't normal and my car doesn't do that. However, it could take some more time for the transmission to learn but I think it is likely there is something wrong with your car. Probably worth your time to find a dealer with a certified Corvette tech.
You aren't lugging your engine if the computer is commanding those gears with the associated throttle position. Cars these days are engineered to cruise at a steady speed at low revs for fuel economy. If you tried to accelerate without downshifting that would be lugging.
When the car is "bucking" does it correspond to the V4 indicator on the DIC going to V8 or visa versa?
I think what they are saying is that it's putting too much of a load on the drivetrain being in those gear at such a low rpm/mph. They are suggesting to keep the rpm's higher. Try driving in SPORT mode and see if that helps. I believe that sport mode will alter the shift points slightly, maybe enough to prevent the problem you are having. I know switching into Z-MODE will but you have to be careful not to exceed 3,500 rpm's.
My car has 280 miles on it now and I am driving in SPORT and occasionally Z-MODE but it's really easy to hit 3,500 before you even see it. The purr of the engine is like a mermaid singing her song to push that gas pedal a little more! Can't wait for 500 to show on the odometer It's a sweet song!
Even if switching modes does help, I would still take it to the dealer 45 minutes away for documentation at the very least and a little piece of mind if nothing else.
RadioguyJ. I took delivery of my C8 early April (350 miles as of now.) I have not experienced exactly what you are describing (bucking), however I do understand what you are saying regarding low rpm driving. I noticed it when I am in traffic and do not have a chance to pull the rpms rapidly up to what some have suggested. I do not throttle it at every stop light and drive it in Touring mode. Unfortunately, at times life calls the C8 to crawl along. And the low speed, crawl through traffic shifts are not silky smooth. I thought this may be normal for the DCT? Reading about the transmission issues via this forum has me slightly paranoid. I installed the Attack Blue air filter and my mechanic dropped a socket, and lost it somewhere in the engine department pan. We had to remove the metal pan to retrieve it. Upon the removal we noticed a small amount of what appeared to be trans fluid (not normal?) It was a very small amount but the experiences of some on this forum, the dreaded trans issue crept into my mind. I will monitor the leak, break it in according to the manufactures recommendation and hopefully at the 1500 mile mark the trans will break in properly and hopefully there will not be any issues. Please continue to post your experience, inquiring minds want to know.

Tadge and several other principle engineers said 1500 for the DCT trumping the manual. Also do a search and you will find at least a dozen owners stating their DCT's continued improving long after 500 miles.
