Sound is subjective .. you really have to hear these in person to make an informed decision regarding sound
regarding fit and function, I don't think any company has come close to the R&D that Borla did to create these exhausts.
there is a reason Chevy has such a good relationship with BORLA. You should watch the Borla video on how they created these exhausts.
Thank you. I will contact them. Still debating if I should get Borla or Fabspeed. Any opinions, anyone?
I waited a long time for the Borla ATAK to arrive at the re-sellers,..but it was late, so I went with the Fabspeed Valvetronic system, sounds great, especially when driving in Sport/Track mode, and in manual!...just the right amount of pop's and crackles between shifts..I'd still haven’t heard an ATAK system in person yet...
Hopefully picking up my C8 tomorrow and recall reading (I believe) that the Borla Exhaust is now an official part from Chevy. Can you order to through a dealership or do you have to get it from Borla?
thanks
the gm exhaust is NOT the s type or the Atak it is less volume than both and priced about the same. I got my s type from a direc dealer and love it. www.aerolarri.com/borla
I don't have the the Borla offered through Chevy, but here are before and after links - my stock Z51 NPP exhaust and my Borla S-type ordered from a Borla vendor.
Thank you Markmehopeful, I saw this post on the other Borla Thread and that helped a lot! Thank you for the clips! Where did you get your exhaust installed and are you happy with them?

Vincent,
I got my exhaust installed at Rydell Chevrolet in Northridge, CA and I couldn't be happier with it. I started out with the exhaust to track mode in the MyMode driving setting (I do most of my driving in MyMode set the way I like it and Z-Mode for maximum performance). I soon backed it off to Sport setting and could almost settle for Tour mode (but not quite). The sound is deep and exotic and I'm very happy I didn't get the ATAK - I think it would have been too much.
This is probably a silly question, but if you get one of these exhausts installed, does the dealer ask you if you'd like to keep your original exhaust? Throw it in a storage unit or basement or something in case you'd ever need it? Last time I had my badges swapped out on a car they just kept the originals and I was a little annoyed they didn't even ask if I could keep them because I assumed they would just leave them in the car for me.
The dealer who did my exhaust also did some other work for me. They just automatically returned the small parts they had replaced and they DID ask if I wanted the old exhaust back. In my case I said no, but I did have the option.
FYI you can now get 20% off accessories, so the price is $4750 - $950. Looks valid through 5/31.
Get your Borla setup this month online if you're still on the fence due to the MSRP pricing. Not sure if there's a better offer than 20% off right now. I'll be ordering mine sometime this month.
The first person I spoke with at Borla told me the "GM version is GM Specific and is closely related to the S-type, more so than the ATAK system."
I heard from a second person from Borla today and she said the "GM version is a little of both. It is at the higher end of the S-type sound level so it is almost an ATAK if that makes sense."
I'm anxious to hear a clip from someone with the GM version.
That would be sweet if it's a higher end version of the S-Type. I had one in my previous C5 and loved the low rumble sound when idling. I, too, would love to hear an audio sample of the GM version if someone has it installed.

I brought mine home with me. It is big and heavy, but my thought was if the eray is the same setup I will put my Borla on it when I get it.

I'm curious about this too.
I came across this youtube vid but apparently hers is defective (and being replaced), not sure if that affected the sound or what:

the Borla sounds vastly better in your audio clip. However it didn’t sound louder to me than the NPP. Sounds like if you want different tone you buy S-Type but if you want more volume inside the cabin you buy ATAK?
Yes, exactly right. The ATAK was a little too loud for me so I got the S-Type. An added benefit was the different (and I think better) tone. It seems to be in a lower range then the NPP or the ATAK. By the way, the S-Type is still much louder than the NPP.
Also, the GM version is not much louder than the NPP. Both the S-Type and the ATAK are a lot louder. Search for Borla exhaust and you will find the thread with decibel levels for all three, measured and posted by Borla.
