First time poster (and Corvette owner),
Took my brand new C8 to dealership to ask questions about the temperature rising to 217 degrees while idling in traffic. Their comment was, "was the red light on?" Not much of an answer. Anyway, at that same visit, I was told that my battery was low and they charged it before my departure. at their advice, I purchased Corvette's battery maintainer and plug it in religiously every time we return from trip. My question is, when I first plug in, the battery indicator on the maintainer is on the second to lowest light. According to the instructions, I should not start the vehicle until the charge level indicates higher.
Is this normal, or do I have a faulty battery? TIA
was the car sitting for a while? did you take delivery of an ordered car or was it sitting in a showroom for awhile? - daily use should charge a good battery if its drained when you plug in to the maintainer after a drive you'll need a new battery I suspect
Ditto again....Zymurgy's response. Mine always starts at two lights, even after a long drive but ramps up in several hours....if not longer. Normally I note the next day that all lights are illuminated on the trickle charger.
217 not out of the norm for idle in traffic. I too get nervous when/if I hit 210 but would not be concerned at 217. Unsure what number I would be concerned about though. Anyone?

Tennessee?
To quote the manual "If the gauge pointer moves into the red zone, the engine is too hot." Given it's a newer car, it probably has a high temp thermostat (190/195 deg) and I've heard the fans don't even kick in until 235 deg. All modern cars run hotter because of emissions regs. I'd probably be concerned at 250 plus, even if the gauge wasn't in the red. That's me.
Nothing wrong with your battery maintainer/charger. I was in a parade with my 2021 C8 and I was moving at walking speed for 2hrs (outside temp was around 85 deg) and my temp never got over 200 deg. I do not have the Z51 pkg.

Would think so. BUT mine seldom gets past 185F. Even on 100F days. Granted I don't sit at idle very long and we don't have bumper to bumper traffic. Now after driving aggressively it's still at ~185 BUT when I park in the garage both engine compartment fans are on for 5 to 7 minutes. NOT the front rad electric fans only the engine compartment fans blowing air out the hatch vents.
My Z51 had an extra rad in the passenger side rear fender scoop. It has an electric puller fan that also comes on blowing air our the hatch vents.
I’m going to be storing my C8 in a garage that doesn’t have a power outlet. Does anyone have any experience with using a battery “portable power station” to power the factory battery tender?
