I recently got a great deal on some OEM center caps. I did not realize that GM sold two different versions of the standard gray center caps. One with black trim around the flags and one with chrome trim. I have the black on the car right now, but I'm also liking the chrome...
You are probably right. I was guessing that if you ordered the chrome emblem & lettering package, that maybe it came with the chrome trimmed caps instead of the black trim...
I think the black trimmed caps come with the std black badges If you order the extra cost chrome badging, you get the chrome trim.
Not neccessarily. I ordered mine with the chrome badges and I have black trimmed center caps on the standard silver wheels?!? Lineworker error, perhaps? Now, that I'm looking at it, it does look a bit odd. Anyone else with chrome badges and black trimmed center caps?
Yes, I took my post down almost immediately because I realized I was wrong, but you were too quick on the draw.
Our car came with the base silver wheels, and we ordered the chrome badging, but I sold them including the caps and put Forgeline F01s on almost immediately. However, I went back and looked at delivery pictures, and ours did come with black trimmed caps.
And who cares? So I went to look. 3LT HTC black badges and base wheels built 9-22. Wheel center caps have a black ring.
So thought the chrome ring looked pretty cool after all. So checked a couple of vendors. $100 for a set of four. I am now back in forever love with the black ring. I'm sorry I ever doubted you.

Not sure it was a worker error, maybe a supply chain issue. I also ordered my car with the chrome badging and the standard 5 spoke wheels and it came with the black trim center caps. I didn't think the color of the grey and the black trim look quite right with the standard silver painted wheels, but since I was going to chrome wheels I wasn't too unhappy with it. Here is a before and after on my wheels. The chrome trim center caps are available over the parts counter. I was fortunate on the chrome center caps. I had my dealer install the chrome wheels. It was done by the mechanic that does all of the C8 PDIs. When he saw the black trim caps he asked me if I wanted to switch to the chrome trim caps. He had done a number of wheel replacements and had a few of the chrome trim center caps that were never installed. So, he just swapped them out for me. Didn't cost me a dime for the new caps and I think they look a lot better with the chrome wheels.
