I disagree. I tried a C7 targa and a C7 convertible. My C8 with the top down, windows up, and rear window lowered has WAY less wind buffeting than both versions of C7.

Now the C8 targa top may have more, it certainly had too much for my tastes which is why I went with the HTC.

Overall, I think not a huge difference. With side windows down, I think the C7 was a little bit quieter at highway speeds, top down, than the C8, but not a lot. Buffeting isn't a significant issue with either. Buffeting is definitely worse in the coupe than the convertible, in both generations.

This discussion pops up seemingly every time top down driving is at hand. Top down, rear window down, side windows up makes the HTC cabin quiet enough to carry on a conversation with my wife. I like the open top cruising but don't want all the wind noise. It's why I chose HTC over coupe (that and convenience), and why I put the side windows up above 50mph. Did the same thing in the SLKs I had. Personal preference.

Talking about top down, windows down as most people with a convertible do when out on a nice day. If you have to have your windows up to carry on a conversation then you answered the question the C7 is quieter.
