Default Leasing a C8?

I plan to buy mine since I want to keep it many years but I was wondering why Leases don't seem to be offered or encouraged by GM and or the dealers?

As suggested, leases are often used for two reasons: (1) to create a financial incentive by the manufacturer for a buyer to buy (using a low interest rate and/or a high residual to make payments low), and (2) by the dealer to provide some extra income for the dealership and hopefully get a good car returned after 3 years so the dealer can sell it as a used car. Neither of those are needed as incentives to sell the car in a strong market. Once prices start being discounted, such incentives will undoubtedly return. But C8s can be leased as a method of financing, just not at bargain payment rates. Might be a good idea if you think the car will be worth more than the residual when the lease ends so you can buy it out. --Bob

Yes, well, I guess I forgot to mention that the actual capitalized cost is the major driver of lease payments. If you are paying $30k over list, you will not have a very favorable lease payment. --Bob

Thanks for the explanations! @Z0Sick6 I'm going to buy it, keep it many years especially if all cars go electric!
