Default C8 Longevity

I remember hearing somewhere that GM validates the C8 to 300,000 miles (or something like that) during its testing. Does anyone know anything about their durability testing or validation strategies? I can’t seem to find where I had heard that.

I hope I am around long enough to put those miles on my car and give you an answer.

I’ll get back to you in 24 years and 7 months at the rate I’m driving mine.

At least in the past, typically the engine hasn’t been the weak point on corvettes save for the crossfire. LS/LT stronk. I think it’s really going to depend on how much aftermarket support the C8 gets. Can’t get parts then you’re screwed no matter what long term. Will probably need an engine and transmission rebuild between 150-200k. Hoping to have a 4 post by then since that job will require dropping the entire power train out of the car.

You'll want a 2 post if you plan on dropping the transaxle.

I got 260k miles out of a 1996 Geo Metro once... Sure a C8 will go 300k if you are willing to get stuff fixed along the way.

My C8 will probably outlive me at the current mileage rate I'm driving it.

More concerned with the electronics than the drive train.

GM warrantees the power train for 125K miles.
Lots of GM V8 motors go "essentially" forever (300K+ miles)

If you change the oil regularly, and maintain the rest of the car, fix things as you go, you can get that kind of mileage out of your C8, too.

I worry all the time about the longevity of my C8. Even though it’s a beautiful car and I love every second I drive it I find myself concerned about the longevity of it.
I’m thinking maybe I should buy some cheap crappy car and not have to deal with all the anxiety of not knowing the longevity of the C8.

Hmm, who cares? Never keep them that long. On my 6th, 1st a 1988. Especially with the complexity of new cars let someone else worry and hope I can get my next Vette when this is just past year 3!

When will they announce the "performance hybrid?" Now they apparently changed names but whatever they call it, when will they formerly acknowledge? GM President a month or so ago said it was coming in 2023 with an EV Vette to follow soon after!

I belive the GM managemnet starting with Mary Barra has a dilemma. They are putting every GM dollar into EVs and she announced that is all they will make in 2035! Not so easy to design and build manufacturing for only EVs in that timeframe.

Worse the public is not convinced they want them!

Quite frankly, I know of no one that wants an electric car. Now my wife's Toyota Hybrid is a different story!

Would be great if the 300K mile validation is correct. I would never see it with how many miles I put on a car in a year, but it may be possible for some owners.

It would be much easier with a 2 post lift.
