Hey guys I am trying to figure out my my options when I receive my C8. A lot of people say ceramic coating is a must have option. I believe it makes the car easier clean and maintain. Am I correct that it doesn’t protect from chipping to the paint. So that is why I am also thinking of a clear bra or wrapping. Would you wrap the whole car or just the front. This is a very big and important investment. I have Corvettes and Camaros but I was just old school and turtle wax club. I know there is a lot of good information out there on the forum. Thank you for helping with this task.
I'm in the same position, trying to decide what to do when the c8 arrives. I've done PPF on the front of 3 cars in the last 7 years - been very happy with that decision (two Porsches and one Tesla). Never done ceramic - but have seen and heard good things. Still ruminating....
I did PPF on the front bumper and had the car and the PPF ceramic coated , 2 coats. Happy with the results (2022 C8) Here's a pic of when it rains on the car. Also we are in the blowing sap from the hardwood trees right now and high pressure from the hose, not the pressure washer gets it and the brake dust off . Blow dry after. No touching required. .Some folks are doing PPF on the rocker sills, I didn't as I put ACS long mud flaps on and they are very effective. AMR Wheels and front ACS splitter /mud flaps done independently before installation .Cost was around cdn $ 2K.(US $1.5K. effect of rain on the PPf and ceramic
Both. Each has a different purpose. I would only use PPF on the areas where you are likely to get impact damage.
I had PPF (Xpel Ultimate Plus) on the full front end (fascia, hood, fenders, windshield pillars/header and mirrors. Also the lower sides (doors and rear fender fore and aft of wheels). Then Xpel Ceramic Fusion Plus ceramic coat to the entire car (including wheels).
I would say both but if you only did one I would say clear bra. Clear bra is for the protection from road rash etc. Ceramic is for the shine and paint protection. (Like wax but better.)

Wax certainly will do the job. I was a wax on wax of then Zaino for years - then age caught up with me and my bad wings. Ceramic makes it soooo easy.
Ceramic coatings provide zero protection against impact damage from rocks and gravel picked up and launched by vehicles in front of you. That requires paint protection film (PPF).
Folks also need to recognize that PPF should be viewed as sacrificial. Some projectiles will partially tear the PPF, but they generally do a good job of keeping the paint intact.
I put PPF on the front bumper area, then ceramic coated everything else, wheels, trim, windows, and even the inside. Also did window tint. 70% Cyrstaline on the front to protect from UV and 20% on the sides and back (check with your state law on what % is legal). They did tell me I need to bring in the car once a year to have the ceramic renewed.
I saw another C8 there that had the same thing done to their car. PPF just on the front. We walked around the car and there was not a single rock chip anywhere on the car, even on the sides. I would only go a full ppf wrap if you live on a gravel road. Be careful people will try to scare you into getting a full ppf by saying your car is going to look so horrible after a couple of years. But it is just not true. But you need to do what you are comfortable with.

Do you have a side picture which shows the wheels nicely?
Professional ceramic if you don’t feel competent to apply a consumer layer of ceramic yourself. It’s not that hard. I respect that some would prefer to outsource even the simple stuff, nothing wrong with that. I pay a guy to cut my lawn.

PPF is a must on any car I own. I skipped doing it on one car (Audi S6) and regretted the obvious wear on the front end from rocks, bugs, and the atrocious road debris in the DC area.
Do the whole front clip in PPF (Front bumper, front fenders, and full hood) as well as the mirrors and headlights. You can do more, but that’s the minimum I would do.
