is there a way to turn off school zone alerts,
2021 2lt
Maybe. You can set Alert Preferences, which include Road Safety Alerts and Traffic Camera Alerts. I don't know if Safety Alerts includes School Zone Alerts though.
Under Navigation ,select Options. Then select Settings. Under Settings, select Alert Preferences.
Oh does it only do that when you're using the car's nav system?

Now that you ask - not certain. I do get school zone alerts even if I have not entered a destination. I think, but I am not sure, that I have to have the Nav Screen active to get the alerts. This is all about the built in, on board Nav -not OnStar. I don't subscribe to OnStar and don't know how that works.
Sheesh... can we get more electronic "helpers"... please? Maybe an autonomous driving Vette? Yeah, that's the answer!
How, oh how did we get by so long without any of this crappola?
Some people have been complaining about not having the Super cruise, Auto braking, Adaptive cruise control, etc. They do not want to have to pay attention or really drive their sports car. They want to ride, not drive.

Plenty of us get along just fine.
No kidding. Ive considered selling my C8 and getting a C2 or C3 resto mod. Sure it wont be nearly as fast, but I'd love to be rid of the nanny junk.
Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion, but my wife just got a new car with the lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise, etc., and I can't see how anyone would be opposed to having it available. I don't use it a lot, but on some long trips, being able to let computers help make the drive a bit less taxing, give your legs a bit of a rest during stop/go traffic, etc. is great. I have 10,000 miles on my 2022 C8 in 8 months, so it's not like I want to ride, and not drive my car, but there have definitely been times where I would have appreciated the conveniences to make some portions of trips a bit more relaxing.

it is just fine for my wife’s Tahoe, it is just transportation. A sports car not just transportation, it is meant to be driven. There is a difference. I don’t want someone to be encouraged to not pay attention in a Corvette. Things can happen too fast. The steering and throttle are too responsive to not pay attention. Want to not pay attention, drive one of your (generic you, not you personally) other cars. I find adaptive cruise control too intrusive.
Studies have found the more advanced safety features encourage people to not pay attention. That is not a positive, especially if they drive any other car. Perhaps when I get too old to drive, I will want to have a self driving car so I can get around. I am not there yet. When I get there, the Corvette will will likely be too difficult to get in and out of.
Fair points, to an extent. I do think if I had adaptive cruise in the Vette I would use it on occasion to make the ride more enjoyable. Not often, but occasionally. Even like recently I hurt my ankle. I drove, and it hurt, but not unbearable. Not bad enough to not drive, but would have been nice to not have to use it quite as frequently and still feel like I was being attentive and safe. Wouldn't want to be in a position to say "I'm not driving it like a race car, so I have to drive a different car that day. The Vette is my daily driver, and I drive it whenever I have to go somewhere. Some additional conveniences would be just that, convenient. Not complaining about not having them by any stretch, but also don't understand the angst about some people finding it helpful.
