I have a 2022 2LT HT. I typically park the car in the garage for a week at a time, then like to check the state of charge, before I drive off. I have noticed that when I park the car in the garage with the doors unlocked (alarm disengaged), and check the battery after a week, the display shows anywhere between 95% and 98% charged. However, if I lock the doors, thereby activating the alarm system, and check the battery after a week, it will show just 85% to 87% charge. I have replicated this a couple of times and it always come out the same. Therefore, it seems the alarm system draws a pretty significant amount of "juice" when engaged. At this rate, I believe that after a month (not on a tender), the battery might not have sufficient charge to start the car. Not really a problem for me, as I do have a tender, and would put it on the car if I was to leave town for any significant amount of time. Just thought I would share...
I never checked this on my car but when I put my car in storage for the Winter I don’t lock it for this reason.
I don’t know where I either read it or heard it but I understood the alarm system draws some juice and there is no need to have the alarm activated while in storage is my secure garage.
All I know is my battery charger has no problem keeping my battery at full charge throughout the winter.
......Therefore, it seems the alarm system draws a pretty significant amount of "juice" when engaged. .......
I did not know about this. I did measure the parasitic draw and reported it in the thread below. I had to check, but it looks like when I measured it, it was with the car locked. At the time, I did that because I thought the car would settle to the benign state faster. But I did not think about the fact that it activates the alarm system which might draw more current. In any case, the draw settled at a low number.
