tranny problems - no fun
About 4,900 miles on the 2022. Out of nowhere I get a "idle creep temporarily disabled" message on the dash. Check engine light also goes on. Now the car is shifting very odd. First gear doesn't seem to work at all... leaving from a light the car jerks and gears are all wonky.
Also just received an email telling me I have a transmission problem (really?) and to service the car within one day. So far, the soonest I can get a dealer to look at it is next week (and that's a dealer I can't stand). I'm going to call around to other dealers in the morning (can't find any other open service departments now).
I'm not sure if I should drive it at all. Then again, I'm not sure I trust the tow truck that roadside assistance might send. This sucks. Was really enjoying this car and it's now going to be out of service for who knows how long.
I could only find some older mentions of the "idle creep temporarily disabled" tranny issue. Is that still a thing? (Obviously is for me) Anyone know what the fix was?

I hope your issue is an easy fix and the dealer is easy to deal with.
That said, I do believe they have a competent Corvette tech on staff, so that's a plus.I've been looking through old reports of this problem. Some seem to be a simple solution (software and/or filter change). Others seem to have had complete transmission replacements. So yes, I'm hoping mine is one of the easy fixes.
I've also seen reports that reverse doesn't work with this issue. It was difficult enough getting it into the garage without a first gear. Not sure how I'm getting it out if there is no reverse.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Arnold (Babylon): will not service cars they didn't sell
Robert (Hicksville): has one tech who is "backed up" - first appointment is 5 weeks
Millennium (Hempstead): 3-4 weeks
East Hills (Freeport): 3-4 weeks. Only one Corvette tech who is only qualified for "routine service." He's also the only "volt" tech on staff. To service a transmission they would have to "send it out" according to the person on the phone.
Atlantic (Bayshore): 2-3 weeks
As much as I dislike Empire, I'll stick with next week's appointment. Other dealers are further away and I'd rather drive as short a distance as possible.
I agree the triple flush will most likely solve OP's problem, given that it appeared suddenly after normal operation for 5K miles.

If he's not qualified to diagnose and repair the transmission, he probably wouldn't be able to determine that a flush and filter change is the appropriate remedy (assuming it actually is). Regardless, this is not a service department I'd want to work with. I wonder where exactly they "send it out" to? Would I wait several weeks for their service appointment, at which point they contact another dealership where they wait another several weeks for that appointment?
The likely truth here is that they don't want to deal with a Corvette owner based upon bad experiences in the past.

Only picked up the car in May. Went to empire for my state inspection, hoping to become a “regular.” Then they tried to push a wheel alignment on me for $700+. That left a bad taste.
Glad to hear you say that empire does a good job on C8s. That is a plus.
I would prefer to use Robert. Always had good experience with their service department on my old Silverado. I’m just not cool with having no car for five weeks waiting for an appointment… in addition to the time it takes to look at the car and fix the problem. Maybe it’s a function of empire buying them out, but Robert’s service phone is also pretty bad. No one answers most of the time, and it could take a few days just to get someone on the line to set the appointment.
At least Empire/Huntington is responsive and easy to get on the phone. As long as they don’t start trying to push additional expensive repairs again, I’ll probably use them for future work.
in a perfect world, I could service this car at the local Ford dealer. They have been servicing my F-150/250s/350s over the years and that’s always been a good experience (although for only regular maintenance and recalls - knock wood, I’ve never had a problem with ford pickups).
still have my empire Huntington appt for next week. Fingers crossed for a quick and easy fix. If empire does right by me, they will win me over for future business.
